Wanting to know your thoughts on this. Gaia trading related.
Alright, this whole legit/illegit thing going on is fishier than Cruelle's panties so what I'm proposing is if we have people designated to log into the supposedly "legit" account via remote desktop and verifying that it is indeed legit, thus approving the legit status.

Why through remote desktop or teamviewer? It still shows as being logged in from the seller's IP and thus if it was legit, doesn't increase/decrease the chance of the account getting banned.

So what are your thoughts on this method? Is it needed? Any alternative suggestions?

Sounds good.
The only problem I see occurring is finding out if its legit or not. Yes you can view the trades and such, but if they gifted your kinda fucked aren't you.
#3
Sounds straight, who would do it though?

Well what you'd look for is evidence that the account was actually theirs such as, their typing patterns, their trades, their activity, etc etc.

Sounds like it'd be one of the responsibilities of the Middle Men.

So much easier to prove that its not. <3

How would you go about doing that?

Pretty much what you said. Viewing grammar, viewing join dates/private messages.
I was pretty much reffering to something I learned a few years ago about Postulates.

Ohh, I thought you had something else in mind. And yeah. I just cant see how all of these members suddenly have this "legit" account worth a few mil.
#13
They just want a few extra bucks from there hacked account.

Bang.

That is a good idea.
But don't you think it will still be kinda hard to find out if its truly legit or not?

Not if you know how to read into people.

That is very true.
And your pretty right. It won't be to hard to find out. Just by the way the post and other stuff.
#21
Yesh. It would definately cut down on people posting "Is it Legit" just to get post count up
#22
I don't get the point of this. Most people have dynamic IPs, anyway, so I doubt Gaia would care if multiple IPs are logging into an account.

The point is to ensure that you aren't getting your ass scammed with a supposedly legit account that's freshly hacked. And I added the remote desktop part just as a way for people that are suspicious of having someone else with a potentially flagged IP to log into the account and get it banned before the transaction actually occurs.

Remote desktop connections are a pain in the ass, thanks to firewalls. I don't see this working too often, especially with how few IPs are flagged due to dynamic IPs and the abundant use of proxies amongst the hacking community in the first place.
Oh, yes, and proxies. They could just proxy before logging in. Tor FTW?
#25
True, but with the advent of Team Viewer, remote viewing has taken leaps forwards.
