Well I'm guessing if it isn't a hoax that it probably wasn't a commercial crash, seeing as that would be all over the news. Where is he from?
I can't seem to find any mention of even a non commercial crash that seem to correlate with your story or within the time frame.
Not saying it's not true, I just can't find anything to help. x.x
