Combating Idiocy One Step at a Time
Okay. In this thread I'm going to outline everything I can think of that is frequently misunderstood on Gaia. [Edited to avoid confusion]
I'm making this due to the increasing amounts of idiocy displayed on this forum and on other forums.
I'll be posting this on other forums.
I request that this be stickied after it falls off the first page.

Gold Gen
If you find a way to gen gold, you will be tempted to abuse it. If you manage to fly under the radar, someone else will eventually find it and eventually it will be abused and patched.
You could use a gold gen the staff have, but you would be caught quickly and banned.

Item Gen
See Gold Gen above. Same story.

Unbanner
An unbanner is a staff tool. Even if you manage to get into a staff account, which isn't likely considering i know few people with that potential, everything you do is logged and you will be caught and banned.

Banner
A banner is also a staff tool. If you intend to ban someone without access to the account, you can either frame them or you can get a staff account and ban them. However, staff will catch on if you use a staff account. You will be chain banned and the account you banned may be unbanned.
If you have access, just use tor and break a crap load of rules and see if you get banned. Btw, exposing 13 year olds to shock site level porn is idiotic. Do not spam the forums with porn if you're not an idiot. It'll get you banned but that's just moronic.

Cracker
Gaia now employs the use of captcha. The only feasible way to crack would be proxies or finding a hole that allows for captcha bypass. This is highly unlikely, but possible. It's not unheard of. However, at this point, anyone who makes a working cracker is not gonna want their method patched. They aren't gonna release their work to you unless they want to get the method patched.

'Scripting'
Packet Editing is not scripting.
Using a client is not scripting.
Scripting has nothing to do with Gaia at all.
Programming in a scripting language could be considered scripting.
I'm unsure at the moment as to why the term is used on Gaia.

Disconnect on Flash Games
You cannot find some kind of filter or some kind of program that is immune to being forcibly disconnected.
Anything you can do at this point, Ava change and things of the like, are done by methods that don't disconnect.

'Hacking'
Using an FLP (Fake Login Page), Social Engineering, FLW (Fake Login Window), etc.
These methods are not hacking. True hacking is obscured at this point. I don't even know what hacking is.
Kids using programs made by smarter people to 'hack' is just... I don't even know.
Please, for my sanity and yours, stop calling everything hacking.

XSS
Gaia now employs a security measure to combat XSS.
It's called HTTPOnly.
The normal method to get a SID is through the javascript variable that follows: document.cookie
Due to HTTPOnly, that variable will not contain any cookie with the HTTP Only attribute.

Key Logging
A key logger monitors all keystrokes on a computer.
A fake client or phishing program is not a key logger.
Key loggers cannot be distinguished by size.
Those of you who think a program that is 300kb - 500kb is automatically a key logger, are wrong.
AutoIt programs, which are common among people who make programs for use with Gaia, are almost always 300kb - 500kb.
If your Gaia was taken but your email was left untouched, you were likely not victim of a key logger.

Trading Pass Unbanner
See Unbanner in general. Same concept. Staff tool only.
Using this staff tool would actually secure a full on ban rather than just your trading pass.
This is idiocy.

This caught my eye the most out of everything else. I've been bothered by this quite a bit, and I've even caught myself calling a simple scam, 'hacking'. Thank you for pointing it out.

Thanks for the support everyone. I thought the first few posts were going to make me out to be a jerk, and that's clearly not my aim here. I thought it was time to point out the obvious and combat the idiocy those of us with brains are constantly enduring at the hands of 'newfags'.

First one is major flawed. So called "goldgens" don't exist and most you find are actually flps. seems someone needs to actually do research before claiming they know everything.

I've been in over 20 staff accounts throughout the course of my Gaia career. I have personally experienced gold gens in staff accounts. I was never the type to use them because i know it would be stupid, but a friend of mine generated 13 mill in items and gold from a dev account for me alone. He actually generated over 100 mill for himself. Someone needs to actually do some research before claiming they know everything.

Side Note: I know of 2 gold gens RIGHT NOW that work. Thanks for trying, but don't judge someone's information if you don't have knowledge of the fact yourself.

Not sure if this is true, but I got a mod account, with the username the same as the password, it was weird. They are able to check everyone's permanent record and make gold. They get a salary of gaia gold or something, seriously.

What Minora is trying to say is that normally when new people join the site, they usually post a stupid topic saying "OMGWHARS DA GLD GENRAT0R?????" and we say there is none. We don't really consider any of that mod stuff 1337 hax because nobody here really has a mod account and if they do, they aren't willing to share :P

No, she said I didn't know what I was talking about.
And like I said, I know of two exploits that allow for gold to be generated, right now. I'm not wrong and I do know what I'm talking about. I won't accept correction attempts from someone who really has no idea what she's fucking talking about.

As far as the rest of the community knows, there is no gold gen kay? It's because of things like this that they ask for it...

I'm not doubting you, I know there are Moderator tools for it, I'm just saying that you should keep that at a minimum because when leechers figure out that there is a gold gen and you're the only one who knows it, they'll come to everybody and post constant spam asking for it when nobody except you knows.

This is true.
I am that 'friend'.
We both have been in about 30+ mod accounts.
I have generated items/gold over 3+ times.
Though moddog/admin panel and through exploits.

lol. Although impossible to do completely, we can still make things that can help, or simulate to reach the limit of our satisfaction. You'll notice a lot of people here also re-post the same thing without knowing it's already been posted before.

And a lot of people in these forums have a lot of common sense. Just look around more.

Edit: And you mentioned in the first post that these are a list of things that are NEVER going to successfully happen on gaia, But later you specifically mention having seen/used one and have generated gold and your supposed friend has too.

So if you've seen and used one that works, then how can it not work? If you can get into a mod account then it wouldn't be hard to make a copy of the program with what you can pick up from the site itself.
If we've made programs to use the PM system for us, then what makes it impossible to make one to just copy what the mod system does?

Final edit: I might as well ask it right now; but Why does the lack of common sense among most members here bother you? The way I see it, you know something that they clearly don't, and by sharing your knowledge, you're offering them what you know. It's up to them to take it and learn something from it. If they don't, then that's their own fault. Don't let it get in the way of doing what you do.

I have generated gold and items so has perso.
Seriously gaia`s security sucks,
These may not be called "gold/item gens" but they let you acquire items and gold out of a system exploit or a official function that lets you.
So I call them "Gold / Item Generators".
Even though they are not, they are a faulty piece of coding that lets me / others abuse it and exploit it.
As perso said, I have abused it, I have abused them all I found and got banned.
And now I don't know why im rambling on and on so Im going to shut up now. XD

He put the description of the thread as things that are NEVER going to successfully happen on gaia. He mentioned goldgen, but apparently it does successfully work and has happened. So that's where i"m confused.

He means a gold gen exploit. Not an official site made gen for staff. Clearly using that is functionally retarded.

Actually, I started the thread and went in a completely different direction and forgot about that. However, it stands uncorrected. Anyone who finds this kind of things is not going to release it or otherwise hand it out.


@The person talking about me handing out my knowledge:
I want to hopefully hand others the mindset to begin learning for real. Enough of the WPE junk and fake login pages other people made for them. The people of this scene need to start advancing and I want to help them start.

Aaah ok I see. :) That sounds like a pretty nice change around here. I got asked a shit load of times from people for me to make them some of the scams I posted tutorials on. o.< It gets really annoying.

This is not only good to combat the growing population of idiots, but also to inform newbies of what works and what doesn't. I know I came here expexting cracks, because that's what I found when I showed up 6 or so months ago. I'm not just going to leave now because I can't get what I want, and this has definitely cleared up what's not out there

Hacking. Hacking is defined as "unauthorized access to another user's account". This includes accessing an account that does not belong to you, or profiting from items taken from a hacked account. Attempts to hack, such as trying to obtain another user's password, will also lead to your account being banned.

Because the first reply to my thread consisted of the following: Everyone knows this; this was useless.
Which is completely wrong because Virtually no one knows this. There are threads everyday on various forums asking for various things I listed in my post. The first response to my contribution was spam. How would you have reacted?

You came in acting like this is all special and needs to be stickied in our forum, when it turns out that none of these are examples from our forums, its all stuff from other forums. You then stated that nobody here has common sense, which you obviously have not observed because you never come here.

I said around these forums as in general forums. There are obviously exceptions.
Btw, I wrote this from scratch specifically for 3 forums. LG, ZZ, GG.
I have observed other forums. Not this one as much as others but in general there's not a lot of common sense going on. You can't argue that.

Everywhere you look you see references to various people as hackers and scriptors and they don't have a clue that it's a misconception.
