zOMG
Any way to play zOMG again? I've been wanting to play it because I thought it was a great game, but since it has been taken down I don't really have a choice but to watch youtube videos of people playing it while I cry. Even if there's some bullshit bootleg version, I just want to play it. Any ideas?

Wouldn't be possible unless you somehow robbed the source code of both the zOMG client and the servers.

Totally implausible for zOMG to be able to be played again unless Gaia brought it back.

Rob seems a bit dark there.
:) It's impossible really. The source code somehow was connected with GaiaOnline's main server.
If they were to give the codes, the probability for someone to hack GaiaOnline (whole game) is high. That's why they decided to close it.
I'm not sure if they can really fix it without doing it online. But if it involve something like php, it's practically ultra hard.

every one need that back.. Hope another mmorphg come too
#5
There is like no balance in gaia atm because of this as well. I mean you would think that customer needs would come first :/

I think its a shame they closed it, it was actually fun to play. I remember being super excited when it first opened.

decompile it! albeit the decompiled source isn't the original, it's as close as you're going to get to it.

As other have said, it wouldn't be worth the work. zOMG was kinda a flop in my opinion anyways.

i miss zomg T.T

Probably one of my favorite games overall, one can hope for it to be brought back.;(
#11
What a waste of developing time and then just not release the game
#12
will they bring it back?
#13
didn't like zomg too much
#14
Lake Kindred is boring and solo, i hate it and want ZomG back !!!!
#15
I really miss zOMG to be honest. It was like the towns but with more actions. It had quiet music and just felt... relaxing. I miss it and I hate the reasons they stopped hosting it =.=

Zomg was shit personally I hated that people care about more than interactions

Was it shit? Yeah, yeah it was.
But it gave gaia's users something mildly entertaining to do even if you're computer is a potato.
I kind of miss it.
I keep having this conflict where i want to play Gaia again but there's nothing on there for me.
Not really a social person so talking to random people on an Avatar site doesn't really cut it.

I know where you are coming from. Im planning on getting back into FLPs and FMPs cause I know there are stupid fucks there who still fall for it.

"zOMG is coming back!

2 years ago there was a security issue with our server software which forced management to shut down the servers. It would take a significant amount of work to upgrade the server software and configure it to work with zOMG, and zOMG was put on an indefinite hold because of that.

Since my return to Gaia two months ago, I've heard many of you sharing your feedback about how passionate you are towards zOMG, as it was the most highly requested feature to fix. Naturally, I had to make it my priority to work on the zOMG server. It wasn't long before I got hold of Swarf, and he helped me understand everything I needed to know to get started. Then after two weeks for learning, debugging, coding, and all-nighters, we were finally able to upgrade the server to a new and secure version.

There are still a lot of work that need to be done. From bug fixes, server testing, to restoring Back Alley Bargains and the exchange. But we're very close and I'm confident that we can restore zOMG for all Gaians by Monday, March 13.

So please mark your calendars, tell all your zOMG buddies, and we'll see you all in zOMG on the 13th!" - Lanzer

^ I saw that. Wonder how buggy it'll be on launch. LOL
#23
It's going to be very buggy on launch, but I'm excited for it. Everyone always talks it up on the forums but I've never played it.

It was never amazing, just something kind of nice to kill time.

+1 to this comment. It was alright back then. The events were nice but then again, Gaia was much nicer back then than now. Now Gaia is just unbearable for me.
I might sink some time into zOMG again but we'll see how it goes.

Could someone walk me through what this zOMG is? I believe I left Gaia before it was a thing and I've heard quite a few people on here bring it up so I'm quite curious.

it's a shitty mmo.
#28
Now that I've played it I agree that it was overhyped.
#29
Wow that was one hell of a necro.

I'm happy that it's back purely for nostalgia. I never did DMS before, so now I've had the opportunity to try it out. Surprised to find that you actually need to mind your buffs and aggro and all that crap. It almost resembles the shell of an MMO.
