It's due to the fact that there are a few of those random items rolling around in MP that are worth next to dirt , but they are always exorbidantly priced

this messes with tektek's database when they pull for pricing on items .
also , worth gets boosted like this by gold selling firms , of which Have you list an item in the marketplace .. (usually something retarded like floor tiles for your house , something you wont miss) and they buy it out for the rediculous price altering the average prices on things .

Just wait till they update the inventories so if you have multiple items, it will show up one item with a number of how many you have.

Tektek may look cool, but the worth calc. internally, is a piece of shit. They made it a piece of shit to make it quicker. Take the bad with the good i guess.

In my opinion Tektek Values have always been too high since the worth calc's first inception mainly because it was based on marketplace values, which are flawed to begin with.

@First part, I don't think it would be THAT hard, I mean, we do harder shit than that... All you'd have to do is tell it to auto update...

@Second, yeah. I'm just selling individual items and shit... Too hard to tell when Tektek is lieing, when it hides it well.

@Sk8er, understandable, yet I wish they would have a fast less accurate and a slower 100% accurate versions...

Making one's own calculator would be a pain in the ass, considering how many items there are. I assume Tektek is cacheing their data to make it faster, and if it's not cached, it would be slow as balls. For every item, it would have to connect to Gaia to get the value - that many connections per page load would be a useless program. Cacheing the values would be incorrect, since the values change so often (as seen by the current Tektek). Unless Gaia implements some sort of RSS/XML feed of item prices (ha!), then there is no quick way to get the price of items.
A system that runs on Cron jobs based on the most popular items would probably be the most effective. If it only downloaded the prices of the most actively requested items, leaving the rare items to be requested from Gaia upon request, then it could be pretty accurate and semi-fast. The problem with that is it would have to exist for quite a while before it could 'learn' what the most requested items are, and calculating an efficient method for when to update the items and how long to keep the cache would be a pain.

I just don't want to fuck with the 100 connections to Gaia for the item values. Maybe someone here knows of some light-weight page of item costs (e.g. RSS feed, etc.).
