They probably changed pass or not correct pass.

Maybe you got Banned?

if he was banned he would be prompted with the "Account banned" screen, and i'm sure he'd be able to tell the difference

Sometimes, if someone changes the email, the first couple of times you try logging in, it usually needs the user ID, located in the Profiles address bar.

maybe check if they say is with cookies
