Take A Stand
I can't handle this,
It's just too much to take.
The weight from the pressure is crushing
And my lungs are giving out.
I feel like screaming,
Maybe one more time
But I know that it will be my last,
It will be silent.
No one will heed my calls
I am nothing in their eyes,
Just another useless black box that isn't even worth taking a look inside.
Will we ever step out from under this veil of lies,
Finally see the truth and face up to it...
Or cower in fear
Needing to be sheltered by this fragile shell we call society?
We're leading ourselves into our own fate,
But on the way we seem to be misled
Powered by greed and driven by lust,
Riding down a slide tilted into a perpetual downward spiral.
It's only a matter of time now before we fade away,
So now I'll begin this story.
It will be set in the present,
A time of hatred where we aren't ruled by who we are,
But judged upon first impressions.
I'll enter this new era with hope
Trying to guide us back on track
But I'm only human,
I can't do this alone.
So follow me as I start this timer and begin
The countdown to the end of my life.

it's strange, you need to stay on topic. a poem isn't about writing about sad stuff all the time. it makes no sense, society isn't a fragile easily broken shell either.

It may not be, but this topic is.
This poem was in response to a movement my friend started to promote judging people based on personality rather than first impressions-
An ideal that does not exist in today's society.
