Announcement regarding spam bots

As some of you may have noticed of late, the forum has been inundated with spam bots. In an effort to counter these attacks, I've implemented a few new features.

1. Registration process has changed. I've removed recaptcha, removed the need for email validation and implemented a custom security question. This should cut back on mass, automated registrations.
   
   
   
2. I've coded a little addon that removes links from the posts and signatures of all users who have less than 30 posts. While this won't prevent spam, it will render some of their effects pointless.
   
   
   
3. I've implemented a community moderation tool. If you have 50 or more posts, and report a post that has links in it from a user with less than 30 posts (i.e. a new spam bot), the post will automatically be made invisible.
   

For those confused, if you see the following text in a post, and you have 50 or more posts, than if you report it, it will be made invisible:

Links removed as user has less than 30 posts.

The last point hands a bit of moderating power over to the community. Users found abusing this system will receive the appropriate infractions. Actual forum moderators and administrators are still alerted when a post is reported, and it will be fairly obvious if a user has reported a post inappropriately.

If you notice any bugs, or want to make any comments/suggestions, please feel free to post.

I think it should be more like 150 post or something like that so there is less abuse.

Oh and to add there should be a report button in the mobile theme and a edit button.

I guess I'll have to start posting a bit more then. It's a good method, I supposed, to lessen the possible effects of spam.

By the time they get to 30 posts we would have caught them. So 30 posts is already being safe.

I'm getting on the mobile stuff right now.

Ahh, I've got ya. Also, test out editing and reporting. Report one of my posts.

Edit: I can't for the life of me find what Alex named the plugin. So I'll let him handle it when he gets on.
