Previously called Global Warming, but since it's not longer just warming, they've changed it to global climate change. This is something I feel strongly about... If we don't do something to change, we will eventually be forced into another ice age, one that we are not handled to equip. Most of us will probably die, and all because we're too lazy to find alternate fuel sources, or we don't turn off lights when we're not using them, or we can't be bothered with recycling. What are you doing to change this, or if nothing, what do you think you could do to help?
Oh, and just for the fun of it, here's a picture of God's Eye.

Yeah i know what you mean. when it was like 60 degrees in novemmber in Massachusetts, a place that has harsh winters, my teacher kept told everyone not thatbe happy that it was hot outside but to be scared. he said it would usually be 40 degrees outside on november, but because of global warming, it got hotter. he also said eventually it would be 70 degrees in the middle to december one day. That's a bad thing, and it really is something people should start paying attention to.

We're not too lazy to change anything. If anything everyone is pitching in on changing the global environment. Have you not seen all the companies going green and all of the awareness they're giving to people. Cars are going hybrid and running on electricity, they're finding new ways to use cars with out oil, and more and more people are getting into being earth friendly and there are a lot of schools with earth clubs. I'm going to parks to pick up the trash, and I'm in the Earth Aid club at my school which puts recycling bins of paper and plastic in every class. We're too lazy to do anything. Pfft.

People just make me angry with this debate. If the world is going end...then let it...We lived a mighty long run

Wtf you talking about they're not doing anything? Companies are resorting to recycled products, healthier foods, solar panels, etc. Of course there's more companies not going green then there is going green but they're not as big. Freakin Fox, Honda, Ford, etc. Big freakin companies are going green which is SOMETHING. Sure there's not a lot of people going green but there are people who are going green that are doing A LOT. Sure it's not enough but it's something. Be freakin optimistic for once. :/
edit: Also, why do you think it's global climate change now? Wasn't it global warming? See we did something. We stopped our planet from just being a 100F+ desert and now it's a wonky 40F-90F .
I wonder who did that. >.>
Lady- You're seeing this wrong. This isn't a topic about the world ending. It's a topic about the weird climate we're having.Last edited by NotNeccesary; 12 Nov. 2009 at 02:07am.

If the world is going to end, which it won't in any of our lifetimes.
Id like to get random chicks knocked up. Or become a rapist. Yep.

No, there is no such thing as global warming,
If you didn't look it up the temperature has changed only like 2 degrees in the past 4 years.
Last I checked The earth went through this same cycle like 100 years ago.
We don't need panic about it.
Yes I agree people should be a little more friendly to the environment but there's no need panic
Did you know the original scientists who said global-warming was happening turned around and said it really doesn't exists?

Sad for me. I'm going to die young. So the environment has never been that much on my mind. :p

Who cares to be honest? I'll be dead by then, not my problem.
---
Nah but in all honesty I agree that if true, it will have devastating effect on humanity, but in reality technology is just not advanced enough to do something about it yet. When it becomes a major problem, then something will be done, but until that time there is no need to get worried about it. While I agree we should address it now, the simple fact is that humanity as a whole is both selfish and so addicted to life. It's why we've evolved to become as dominant in this world as possible.
We'll only continue to evolve once the environmental pressures force us to. That's simple Darwinian evolution, and those environmental pressures will only be significant enough when the realization comes that death and destruction is in our imminent future - then we'll address climate change at 110% :p

I dont believe in Global Warning. I think it's just another government hoax to scare people.
- 13 Nov. 2009 08:02pm #15
well what your asking is narrow minded your asking people if they dont help what could they do. maybe they wont or cant do anything so maybe instead just ask why.
as for me i do my bit. although its not gonna change anything. besides we are all gonna die anyway. so i dont care if global warming kills us all as we will all die.eventually
- 14 Nov. 2009 02:42pm #16
you should care if global warming kills us all. wat if humans were suppose to live until the year 3012, and global warming comes and kills everyone. We missed out on 1000 years. Imagine what type of advances and achievements the human race can do in 1000 years.

I recycle to help our planet. But sometimes I throw bottles into the trash. :[

When scientist and Al Gore come forward and rather than stat their theory as a theory and support it rather than just saying its fact when many scientist don't accept it as fact and point the temperature of the Earth over the last 5 years has dropped not increased, while the temperature on Mars has increased. Planets go through natural cycles of heating and cooling. The effect we have on the planet is being way over stated and no I don't care if the polar bears die.

My city doesn't have a recycling center.
The only time we're able to recycle is once a year at the fair.
Odd, I know.
Also, I'm going to try to get my parents to put solar panels on the house we're going to build.

@evolving to support the new climate
That would only happen after mass extinction of multiple species, death of the majority of humans, and assuming it doesn't reach the point where life can no longer exist.
I hope we get clean energy soon. Or they outlaw the current heavy pollutants. It makes me sad to see even exhaust come from vehicles.
Blast my hippieness.
- 15 Nov. 2009 11:49am #22My view on Climate Change is:
Eden (Earth as I like to call it) gives off more CO2 than anything we could possibly do. The arguement, "We are adding to it" is rather fail because the earth has a balance of Oxygen and the other gases, it basicly works like a air purifyer in some respects. At certain times in it's life cycle, it will enter a stage where everything will get warmer then colder this is the Ice Age.
We are heading towards another Ice Age basicly, I am rather certain of it but it won't happen for another thousand or so years.
People need to get off the Global Warming/Climate Change band wagon, start focusing on something a bit more exciting like Galaxy Collisions and so on.

My View (Hia Seffy):
I believe that the Catatumbo Lightning effect counters the damage we deal to the Ozone, thus making the Global Climate Change a natural occurance (A cycle which throughout history the earth has proven to go through many times).
"It originates from a mass of storm clouds that form a voltaic arc at more than 5 km of height, during 140 to 160 nights a year, 10 hours per day and up to 280 times per hour"
"The Catatumbo Lightning can be considered a major regenerator of the planet's ozone layer, as it produces approximately 1,176,000 kW of atmospheric electricity."
The Statistics on the Catatumbo Lightning storm, if we are honestly producing as much CO2 as that lightning storm creates in Ozone, then we are deservant of what is to come. The Catatumbo Lightning Storm *God typign that out over and over is annoying* is an atmospheric phenomenon that almost single handedly creates the Troposphere.
The Troposphere, to those who are unaware, is the lowest portion of the earth's atmosphere. It contains approximately 75 percent of the atmosphere's mass.
tl;dr/conclusion- I believe the earth will find it's own way to counter the effects, not that this is based on the gaia theory (:Consequentialism - A Firm Beliver In The End Justifying The Means (:

Humanity will only try to change the problem when its too late. An Ice is comming.
Oh well, I'll be dead anyway!
Still, We do everything we can that our technology allows us. Except for creating punishments for those who do not follow Goverment procedures ( Which would be stupid btw). We can't do much more.

Poor Nieve Luke.
An ice age isn't coming as of yet.
The climate will got through several severe changes before that happens, first we would require to be underwater - in order for the iceage to actually occure.
So we would need a vast temperature rise to melt the icecaps.
Then a vast temp decrease to freeze them.
Each of these events will take a hundred or so years to complete (or more so at the current rate of icecap melting per year).
Screw climate change, wait untill the Earths magma depleets or cools down.
or wait till that meteor comes our way ^^Consequentialism - A Firm Beliver In The End Justifying The Means (:
