The USD isn't backed by China anyway, so that sounds false. If China stopped wanting to finance us, it just means we'd have to cut government spending. Big whoop. We're supposed to be doing that anyway, and I'm fucking baffled by how Republicans are bitching about Obama doing that. I can't say I'd care. At worst, we'd probably have a recession of some sort. Hopefully taxes raised. But surely military spending cuts and a lot more useless programs cut as well.
In fact, China no longer financing the US may be exactly what the US needs.
In fact, as fucked as it may sound, but economically, this may be the best thing:
North Korea attacks South Korea.
US/Western countries defend South Korea.
China defends North Korea.
War.
West wins. US wipes debt owed to China because fuck them if they declare war on us and cut us off. I see no obligation to pay off our debt. Our money now. What are they gonna do? Declare war again? Assholes.
Spending cuts mandatory given less annual income for US.
Economy fixed. North and South Korea merge to just Korea under the South Korean government.
Sounds like win.
Although I think more likely, as much as China supports North Korea, they know they can't win and will just abstain so that the US does still owe them and nothing really changes.
But regardless, China pulling funding is probably exactly what we need to actually cut spending here.

China wouldn't call America's debt. It would destabilize the world economy and put the US out of hegemony. That sounds great if you want to destroy the balance of power and wipe out the international system but China needs all of that and for the US to be the hegemon. The US more or less makes the world work, international trade and peace are reliant on the US. The US Navy ensures that shipping routes are protected and keeps an artificial balance of power in most of the troubled areas of the world, ie Europe. Europe would have never formed the EU or managed to keep the peace for this long without the US having troops in most of it to keep them from invading each other. Even when invasions happen the US run right to their pulpit and grabs as many states as they can and goes and kicks ass. Consider this as well, even when the US isn't taking action, they are. Libya, the Britian and France usedUS weapons, US ammo, US warhead, and US troops to get the job done and before they did ny thing and got the unoffical US support the world collectively was wondering what the hell was supposed to happen when Obama said the US wasn't going to take the lead. The US is most powerful state in the world, in decline or not, it out stripes every other state and is at the center of the entire international system. No matter is another state or the world doesn't like how we act, none of them want to do anything to unseat the US. The costs and problems that it would result in would be catastrophic unless another nation took on hegemony and that's and expensive and pain in the ass job.

Didn't you hear, China isn't the reason why America is going to collapse, Honey Boo-Boo is. D:
I do not believe America is going to completely collapse. America uses other countries as it's whores. And it is the pimp.

China is a global power and due to system of alliances its doubtful the fighting would be confined to Korea, especially since it poses imminent threat to China.Fight wold probably be wider spread, its possible that there would be fighting on US soil. Or at least tactical strikes, particularly with the US's use of drones I can't anyone being very respectful of borders.
Well it helped the US, but it decimated Europe. Brazil, Russia,China, and India are in better positions to become the major world powers after a global war. How helpful such a war would be economically is debatable. Especially since we can't foresee the damage and where fighting would take place. China has a large global network with the states that the Un considers failed or outside the system, plus Russia and Iran would likely use global war as a pretense to make moves i their respective areas of influence. Whole thing could be a clustered for the US and it's allies really.
I don't doubt the US's ability to win given it's and it's allies power, I just can't say that the cost of victory doesn't leave the international system in such a mess that the Western powers aren't forced to retreat from the world stage in a major way.

South is pretty cool. North Korea is one of the most restricted countries in the world. For an industrialized society, it is the most censored in what information is allowed in and what information is allowed out. Surprisingly little is known about them, relative to how much we know about other countries. They are like a much smaller scale Nazi Germany, but without the racism. They do have absurd punishments for crimes, like life of manual labor. American journalists are often sentenced to years of manual labor for crimes determined seamingly on a whim, such as taking photographs of certain things after being allowed into North Korea to take photographs. But that's not to downplay how many North Koreans are sentenced to manual labor. Most inmates, I believe.
It's a pretty shitty place. The propaganda is hilarious, though. It's sad in that people believe it, since they only received censored 'facts.' But it's hilarious from a third party perspective.

I'm sure it would be. I'd fear for Europe though who is much closer to China than the U.S. And probably Japan too. I don't know enough about their position on North Korea to guesstimate what they'd do. Maybe stay neutral? I don't know. This isn't my area of expertise, so I'll stop while I'm ahead.

Official history involves unicorns and their previous leader being born under a rainbow.
N.Korea and China are very close allies. Our last war with Korea almost resulted in direct war between the US and China. technically US and Chinese forces fought in Korea but at one point US troops pushed to far north and China lost their shit.
The general position of the US and China are if their part of Korea is invaded/opposed by the other nation then they are going in. Japan is a very close ally of the US and anti-Chinese power, they do not want China to be the regional power in Asia. The issue with this is that China is also anti-Japanese power.
What happens and where fighting spreads depends on what happens. If there i only fighting along the boarder between Korean troops with indirect conflict between China and the US then it's just that. If China makes power plays because of the confrontation you're looking at major international action. Taiwan and Tibet would be easy for China to invade/annex like they have wanted to for years. Both of which have written guarantees of US action against China in the event they try. There are also some islands that people feel have oil around/on them that are disputed that would be a tactical target for China in the event of confrontation. You also have to deal with the fact that China and Korea are nuclear. China can hit the US, Korea can't but they could get into Europe.
It makes tactical sense that if China is going to fight the US they'd launch an attack on US soil, though they'd also have to hit Europe.
Nuclear force is likely only to come from Korea and China will discourage it though. If Russia sides with China and they work out a plan you could see something happening.
I don't know where Russian Sino relations stand, they tend to not like each other. It's more beneficial for China to try to get Korea to shut up and back off till they can build more power at least. hough it could be a US Israel situation where you have Korea ignore China, do what it wants and drag China into something. In that situation it's still doubtful they do anything beyond fight to standstill.

Korea and Japan hate each other, yes. An that's not a North or South thing, all of Korea hates Japan and all of Japan hates Korea. South Korea had an embargo on all Japanese products prior to like 2000 something. hey've had on and off wars with each other over the centuries. Point of reference: The first pokemon games in Korean were Gold and Silver, then the culture and imports ban was back on and then they got like Diamond and Pearl.
It's actually really stupid because the Asians in Japan that are called Japanese are all descendants of Koreans.
Fun fact: the natives of Japan are the Ainu, who are white people. Seriously, they are historically of a Caucasian complexion and hairier than Asians. The Japanese have basically done to them what the US did to Native Americans. Intermingling of the people has cause Asian features to become subtly added to them too. Though they still get a lot of crap.
