Many call it justice.
So when I first heard about this story, I misread this title. I thought it said "Man kills himself with a gun he had just stolen," as in a suicide. I thought, "How incredibly sad. How the hell is this being called justice?" Then I re-read the title. Oh. He was a thief who didn't want to die instead of a thief who did. So is death really justice here? I like to think the reason I (and hopefully we) feel sad in response to "man kills himself with a gun he stole" is because we'd like to think there is something we could have done to help him. Right? Do we really see criminals as so hopeless? Is that perhaps the problem?
