Only by radically restructuring the education system can we equip the next generation with the tools necessary to overcome the upheavals of the current generation.
i.e. Knowledge is power.
What do you think about public education? How much government financial investment is too much? What changes does it need? What goals should it have?

Education needs a massive overhaul. The way we teach isn't effective, the politics involved in the public education system, the people in education, etc. are all issues so how to even fix the problem is beyond me. You have bad schools that ought to be closed, you have good schools that are underfunded, you have a broken system that evaluates it's self on training kids to take tests and teaches them no life skills, we teach individualism and consumerism to a destructive point, we don't promote the arts or literature. Frankly, I don't know how any educator anywhere in the US isn't ashamed of themselves and their profession.
Money is and isn't an issue. We can't throw money at the problem. That won't fix t but once reformed we'd need to keep the system funded. We also need to face facts and switch to having school year round.
