Its all over the news, and its the number one thing that should be on the news and covered in depth.
The American debt has exceeded $14trillion , more then the total debt of many European countries. How the fuck does this happen?
In my opinion its the tax breaks for the people who gross more than $250k annually. The tax ceiling stops there, and if that persona makes more than that, it can't be taxed. Who the fuck thought that up? In my serious opinion I believe that there should be no tax ceiling and that pot should be legalized and taxed. Its a multi billion dollar a year job. It's one of the only things that make more money than porn does, and that industry isn't taxed enough in my opinion because it's "taboo" but it is still a viable source of income that should be taxed.
Cutting spending by $2 trillion isn't gonna do a lot for the economy since news of funding cuts on that level can cause a dip in the economy just on principle.
The President signed a bill that agreed with the GOP and the soon to be appointed and ridiculously named, "Super Congress."
What are your opinions on this?

Pot should have been legalized years ago. Whats better, thousands of accidents from drunken idiots, or a few hundred (not even really that) from people baked. Usually when people are baked they tend to drive slower.

Thats the general way its gonna be. I mean they are cutting a billion from military spending immediately, and that means no college for me for a few more years, and all of the people that retire will only get half of their benefits. Not to mention taking away from benefits of people that have already retired.

Over all I'm still pissed doing nothing would have caused better cuts than what they "agreed" to. Its ridiculous. Both sides are sitting around playing politics and nothing is being done. The deal is nothing, the results are nothing. Cut god dam everything and raise taxes. End of story. That is the only way to make it work. You have to cut social security, medicaid, medicare, social welfare, education, military spending, ect. Taxes have to go up and not this Bush tax cut shit, real taxes on everyone. Obama's tax brackets and the Bush tax cut all focus on the middle to upper middle, maybe low end of the truly wealthy. The revenue generated is nothing. You need to tax big business. The Uberwealthy like Bill Gates and warren Buffet have asked to be taxed more. We need tax reform as much as raising taxes and I think it should be a consumption tax. Its easy to evade income taxes. Consumption taxes are unable to be avoided. Then in ten years when we break even we need massive overhauls of all social welfare, military, and education spending. Some government restructuring and reform wouldn't hurt.

The Onion pretty much sums it up for me.
ollowing Sunday’s pathetic excuse for an agreement on raising the government’s borrowing limit, Democrats and Republicans took time to celebrate the meager, ineffective deal, calling it “a testament to the not-so-great things that can happen in Washington when both parties barely come together and agree to not really accomplish anything.” “It took months of phone calls, negotiations, and meetings, but finally we created a pretty sad version of a framework that, we’re happy to say, none of us is really proud of, and that doesn’t really do much to solve our country’s fiscal problems at all,” said House Speaker John Boehner, who gave a cheerful thumbs up and added that the sorry piece of legislation was expected to pass both houses of Congress with a really pitiful display of bipartisan support. “Once again, Democrats and Republicans have demonstrated why our mangled, fractured, barely functioning democracy is the greatest in the world.” At press time, members of both parties were trying to explain to their supporters how the budget agreement could in any possible way be construed as a victory for them.
Not only does this "Super Congress" not make sense, it also doesn't include independent parties.
Pretty sure it goes against some parts of the constitution too.
But then again, so does our government in general for most of the things it does, so why do they bring it up in other debates anymore?

It's just ridiculous. The rich are getting richer. The poor are getting poorer. The damn greedy republicans, can't stand to lose a penny. Just pisses me off that because they are greedy they are willing to do so much to keep their money. I read somewhere that several Environmental policies and what not were up for removal to help cut spending. They were to not tax oil companies, and to remove EPA power, stuff like that. That is just retarded. Tax the fucking oil companies. Gah, this whole thing just shows how incapable the US is. I'm fed up with the republicans and this Sarah Palin Tea party shit. It's fucking ridiculous.

You're an idiot to think either party is helping any one. Republicans are trying to get rich, democrats are rich but feel bad about it so they tax people and have charity events where they give away a little money and feel better about themselves. The whole system is shit because we're in a two party system. For once we're likely to see a third party soon, it will be swallowed by one side are the other eventually but as long a it moves things along we're cool.
You can't really be pissed about some Environmental cuts to underfunded fail programs can you? We need cuts if any thing is going to be salvaged for an sort of time beyond ten years. The rich get richer and the poor get poor its called capitalism. Capitalism is the better of two evils. One thing you should consider is the poor have to get a ton poor to be the poor from any other system.
