I think you must just have a very cynical view on relationships then. Though a lot of people are miserable in relationships, I wouldn't say they majority in one are. It really just comes down the people with in the relationship being able to actually talk and understand each other. (Regardless of gender) People really just have to look outside themselves.
I think a lot of relationships end and are miserable because of miscommunication and unwillingness to see things from another person's point of view. Again I wouldn't say the majority are miserable though. C:

I don't think Gay people should get married.
God Made Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve
Besides I think it destroys every American aspect on marriage.
The way people see it when they see a man and a woman it's wonderful
but when you see a man and another guy well most people are just disgusted. (Well the majority)
Btw on the prop 8 on california the majority of the voters voted against prop 8 how the hell does one person get the right to overturn the damn decision we voted so therefore NO!

Well it's very controversial if you haven't noticed.
Everyone has their own opinion but the vast majority of people just don't think it's right
Depends on where you live too
Everyone has their own opinion.
And after all this is just a debate don't get all pissy

I am fine with religion, as long as you don't extend it to hate/harm other people. Second, the problem with people being disgusted is because they don't fucking understand that gay people don't fucking choose it. Because of people like you countless gay teens are constantly hating themselves and being miserable and not even feeling safe in their own household. The love between a gay couple is just as strong if not stronger than half of straight couples. Straight couples often take advantage of something so simple as pure love, and that is what soul was talking about them being miserable.

Well I'm just playing Devil's advocate here and I'll agree with you on that part. Many of them are afraid and miserable but life's a bitch.
I'm not religious at all either but it influences a lot on people's views.
But I still don't think it's right and you can't really do anything to change my mind about it either.
I know what you two are trying to say but I'm not a gay hating bastard either so don't get all offended because I don't agree with your opinions.

I'm not quite sure what we would be "destroying" if we let gays marry. On another note I can tell you feel strongly against the idea so I doubt there is anything I could say that would change your opinion. But just so you know, marriage existed before Christianity / Catholicism, and it had nothing to do with love it was mainly about ensuring that your woman was a virgin and for money / property. It wasn't even a religious affair until around 110 when bishop Ignatius of Antioch wrote: [I]t becomes both men and women who marry, to form their union with the approval of the bishop, that their marriage may be according to God, and not after their own lust." After that the rest was history so to speak.

Here is the old topic: http://forum.logicalgamers.com/debat...-marriage.html
My argument and some quotes:
I am against same sex marriage because changing the definition of marriage based on the idea that sexual orientation the right to be married to someone of similar orientation opens a can of worms we don't want to mess with. Homosexuals can have civil unions if they want to be "married".
1st Marriage is not a right. If it is then you have to make it so that marriage includes everyone's sexual preference.
2nd Marriage is currently defined as the union between a man and a woman. If you allow the homosexuals to change that based on their sexual preference and a right to marriage you establish legal precedent for every sexual preference to do the same. You will have to allow for polygamy, bestiality, pedophilia, and any thing else you can imagine. Why because you've allowed for marriage to become a right. You can't say that you have the right to marry based on love or because of the way you are because that will instantly become the defense of the pedophilia with the child they've brainwashed.
You can give homosexuals civil unions with all the same rights as a marriage. I admit we need to go ahead and do that because its not fair not to. I also feel the homosexual community will make bigger strides towards this if they stop with the parades and in your face approach that pisses everyone off and inspires hate.
Marriage is a civil contract, divorce is the nullification of that contract. Marriage isn't a religious intuition, its a contract a man and a woman enter into as defined by the state allowing for shared procession of their stuff and join of families. There is no part about love, there is not right, there is a man and woman part. An that prevents polygamy, gay marriages, bestiality marriages, necrophilia marriages, and pedophile marriages. You let the gays change the definition then you have to allow all the others. This is not an argument of love or if you can be gay or not. Be gay, I don't care. I will not allow them to establish legal presidents for the pedophiles and other weirdos to come along as say "We've the right to marry for love. I love this three year old boy and he loves me so marry us."
You think it won't happen? It will. Why? You made marriage a right and established legal precedent. An as soon as the lawyer points out that precedent, the case is over. The court has to allow it, or go back and not allow gay marriage either.
You are not given a right to marriage. You are give the rights defined in the "Bill of Rights". Now you want to say "What about the pursuit of happiness part?"
That's the deceleration of independence and has nothing to do with your rights.
Make marriage a right and you allow for every thing stated prior.

pros and cons in a nutshell
Well i cant choose, maybe cause i don't give a ****. Or maybe because the argument is stupid in the first-place...
Pros-
First off, denying them is a violation of freedom, Straight people can get married in our country, and if you love someone shouldn't you be able to do whatever the hell you want with them? Marriage benefits should be available to all couples, gay or straight- nuff said. Denying these marriages is a form of minority discrimination. The only thing that should matter in marriage is love.
Homosexuality is an accepted lifestyle nowadays with most evidence strongly supporting biological causation. For too long homosexuality has been considered a form of "deviant sexual behavior". Those making these accusations should examine the history books and the psychological research. Throughout our history going all the way back to ancient Greece, homosexual relationships have existed. Even the term "lesbian" comes from a Greek island called "Lesbos" Xp. As a final thought, It doesn't hurt society or anyone in particular- Ill let you chew that one yourselfs.
The number of child adoptions should increase since gay couples cannot pro-create (although some might see an increase in gay adoptions as an argument against same-sex marriages).
It encourages people to have strong family values and give up high-risk sexual lifestyles.Like any heterosexual couple relationship, a same-sex marriage may fuel the desire for a family. Since gay couples cannot have kids naturally, this will likely increase the desire to adopt, don't you think more lonely children in china would like a family?
Ok, thats it for that half.. now for the...
Cons-
Most religions consider homosexuality a sin, virtually every religion in the world, including the major ones in this country, consider homosexuality unacceptable. It is offensive and a swipe to the religious freedom of the majority to have to recognize a relationship they consider sinful. The legal system in the United States evolved out of the laws contained in the Bible.
It would weaken the definition and respect for the institution of marriage, America already has a 50 percent divorce rate, weakening the definition of marriage. Maybe We shouldn't be taking further steps to define what marriage is. It could further weaken the traditional family values essential to our society, a gay couple isn't the same as a straight couple...
Although highly unlikely, It could provide a slippery slope in the legality of marriage (e.g. having multiple wives or marrying an object could be next).
The gay lifestyle is not something to be encouraged, as a lot of research shows it leads to a much lower life expectancy, psychological disorders, and other problems. Studies show that homosexuals, for a variety of reasons, have life expectancies of approximately 20 years less than the general population. Just like a lifestyle of smoking, drinking, etc., unhealthy lifestyles should be discouraged.

being 100% honest, I'm a little homophobic. Could be because my parents are extremely redneck.. but all in all at the end of the day, if your not gay, don't be gay. Don't hate on somebody because your probably just jealous they have real love, and you don't

I approve of it. There's nothing wrong with it. And there are a lot more gay marriages/relationships on T.V. now a days. I believe the media is trying to promote acceptance.
Hit T.V. shows that have/had gay marriages/relationships:
Grey's Anatomy
Modern Family
Desperate House Wives
Glee
These are only a few and all produced by ABC. I'm sure there are more out there.

I don't really care if someones gay, as long as they don't shove their sexuality in my face, I really do not mind.
I really think this is bullshit about "Oh if we let them get married, then eventually we will have to allow all kinds of things in marriage."

Gay Lifestyle?
xD
Just because someone is gay does not mean that all they do is party, drink, smoke, and have sex. If someone does that, it just means they have a wild lifestyle. Your sexuality doesn't effect that. The whole "all gays do is party" is just a stereotype.

As I said in another similar thread, they are no different from us, they eat, sleep and work like us. They're just in love with a person of the same sex. I don't see why the hell it's so hard to accept.
Last night I had a vision of a disco in the sky, I saw angels and saints dancing together.
I remembered the thump of the bass and the pump of the kick, because my heart was almost out my body and I felt free, I felt joy,
I felt things I never thought I'd feel before. It was deep it was soulful it was techno it was disco,
a kaleidoscope of sounds it was truly underground it was an essential mix in the cloud where we could dance and sing out loud
it was New York Ibiza and Miami all wrapped up into one. There were speakers the size of skyscrapers and the stars they flickered like strobes,
and everybody loved everybody else, a tribal beast of rhythm a ceremony of sound, the gathering of the spirits that would lift us off the ground,
my vision was so clear, but it was still hazy in my mind, I must have went to house heaven, because nothing's that divine...
