Even as gaming begins to challenge television as a leading mass entertainment medium, the industry continues to struggle with the serialized model that's made broadcast programming a nightly must-see for many.

Episodic games deliver fun in spurts

I've been playing Sam and Max episodes lately and I have to say that it does make sense for games that have a story in it. It's like reading a good book, making you read a chapter now, and save a chapter for later on (these guys release a new episode each month). I find it fun <3

I don't know how to feel about it. Personally I just rather they make a hell of a long game and let me play through the story at my pace rather than with hold it from me and continue to make me pay for it. Video games are all ready priced at $60 new why do I need to deal with paying $10-$40 every few months to play a game I already bought? I do like the idea of being able to expand the game though. It seems like we were getting add-on and expansions and then episodic gaming is just the way that people have turned that into a way to make more money.

I like the Sam and Max way of episodic gaming... Not the valve way.
