What are your opinions on souls? Do they exist? Are they ours to keep or some pre-modern science era concept that is somehow supposed to dictate how we act with threats of going to Hell if our soul is impure or Heaven if it is pure?
Are souls even real? And if they are, what if you are soulless? Or are they just tools of a long fallen dictatorship run by the church and religion, that don't even exist?
(Nothing to do with my name, just thought of a conversation I had recently.)

I believe a soul is the animating force in each of us and is in the end who we are. I believe at death the soul transcends this reality for another and we carry on there.
There is something more to us than the physical, in my opinion any way.

Where do you get that though? How is the "soul" an animated force that drives us in any way? Isnt it really just there, assuming it exists, to keep us on the humanly plane and away from the After-Life until our human vassles expire? And even then, thats assuming that there is an after life in the first place. As far as anything can show, nothing is there. nothing driving us but ourselves. Souls being non-existant.

No, I don't.
I believe that humans are just as they appear, animals that are far more advanced as a species than any other.
I don't think any other animal has a soul either.

We have a detailed treatise on the transmigration of souls and our version of the afterlife seen in our scriptures. There are also detailed (and grisly) descriptions of the punishments suffered after death for various sins committed during one's lifetime.
As for my beliefs, I do believe in the concept of a soul, and that one's body is merely a vessel. IMO, the concept of an afterlife as such was basically invented because people were wondering what would happen after they died. They wondered where they went to. If you look at it from an agnostic's point of view, a lot of the old concepts were invented because people had no idea of how life worked in the old times. My contributions:

For all the stuff that happens around here, LG itself is always remarkably unchanged. Thanks to the folks who still remembered I was once here and welcomed me back despite me being retarded.

I think some where along the lines as you do about religion, but i dont believe it was centred so heavily in those days because of curiosity, but more out of yearning to feel stability and truth in their lives, and a few people with the "Word of God" was able to give them that. Religion has no effect on the belief on souls except to exploit the fears of the people, IMO.Voted Hottest Male Member

Its a hard question...You would think if i had a soul i would feel it inside me...Some people are heartless and cruel and those are the people we refer to as "having no soul"...But honestly thats a personality trait...I think your soul is your personality basically...and I don't know if we change in the afterlife so I don't have an answear for that part of the question

I don't think souls exist. When you die, you're body stops functioning. And well.. After that is it. By it I mean nothing. I'd have to die to find out, but I think souls are just as real as fire breathing dragons :/ I remember having this conversation at least 12 times on cheat engine.

Religion in those days was also the basis of how a civilization used trk, especially if you observe it in Sumerian, Egyptian, Greek/Roman, or Chinese culture.
Though, even then, the secular rulers twisted religion to fit their own views of the matter; the earliest example is when Gilgamesh proclaimed that Marduk was the real king of the gods in Sumerian culture, and hired poets to invent "ancient" myths to back up this claim. Nevertheless, religion of today isn't all that much different from the days of yesteryear, except for the fact that instead of open wars fought on a religious basis, we have guerrilla warfare as a substitute. ool:My contributions:

It's like believing in Santa, or the Easter Bunny. Do I believe there is some magical, non physical force that doesn't adhere to universal laws inside of me? No, I do not.

Santa Claus or rather Saint Nicholas did exist, Artificial.
He lived somewhere in Europe and he gave gifts to European unshaven kids.
Don't ruin Christmas, Artificial, for the kids. <_<;Trust me, I'm a fucking doctor.
