This topic has 2 parts.
Today, In psychology, Part of our discussion was, Do you think babies are born with some skills or do they learn over time?
I think babies are born with the basics: Emotions, and feeding and sleeping, and going to the bathroom.
Whats your opinon?
Second part:
So, Is it right to have a baby in your teens? I personally think it isnt, because its harder to do school stuff, maintain a job, and a baby.

i think its just wrong to have a parent in there teens. and as for the first bit i think a bit like you but they have insticts like the speech etc. cos everything is just an instinct all we do is develop it. so yes they are born with the ability to speak etc.

Teens having children is not something I encourage. Being a teen parent, it makes it harder to accomplish your work in the classroom. Also, many teens aren't mature enough to handle a child. They don't have enough life experience, and their brains have yet to fully develop. Scientists' Studies say that the brain has not fully grown until the age of 25. The part that grows last is the area which inhibits risky behavior. I would say that that part of the brain would really be a necessity when raising a child.

i dont think that teens today are ready to handle a child. my generation of teens proved that 90% of teens aren't ready for a child, this next generation of teens is going to further that statistic.
so no, i dont think it is ok for a teen, especially a young teen to have a child, just because of how mentally, financially and emotionally draining it is.Voted Hottest Male Member

Well babies are born with the skills of crying when you are sleeping and taking a shit after you clean the diaper.
And as for the teenage pregnancy it is neither right nor wrong. Sure our ideals of today say it is wrong, but a long time ago 15 was the age that families started, and hell sometimes even younger. I think it just depends on the person's wants.

I think some babies are born with skill.
Sometimes it takes some people a little longer to lear something someone might learn in 30 minutes.

I personally dont think teenagers should have babies, as most are still immature and not old enough to care for a child, especially if said teenager depends on their parents and doesnt have a job.

Babies are born with many skills, and have to learn many as well. There are, I believe, five major reflexes babies have at birth. Grasping, stepping (if you hold them with their feet dangling just above the floor, they'll attempt to walk in the air), some reflex named after some person that happens if you touch their feet, touching their cheek makes them turn their heads in that direction (for breast feeding), and a few others. Obviously they can breath and do all the other things that is automated by the brainstem (or whatever part that is prior to the brain; been over a year since I learned this).
And many or most things they learn through mimicking their parents. The environment teaches you many things. Mostly social behaviors.

A hefty amount of it will be down to basic human instinct, it's not like you don't know how to breath; or you can't tell that hunger means you need to eat. The more complex things, like balance and language come down to knowledge learnt after birth.
And for 2; I find it disturbing that quite alot of people where i live are the same age as me and have kids, but they don't do it round here because they think they're ready. They do it because of the saying "It's like wearing a coat indoors"; which apparantly makes it cool to impregnate 16 year old girls.
I don't know anyone round here, who has had a child because "they think they're ready", they're just stupid. Litterally, mentally retarded round here (: But no, i don't think children should be braught up outside of a relationship that works. Get engaged atleast .Consequentialism - A Firm Beliver In The End Justifying The Means (:

Having a baby during your teen years IS wrong. Also, I think babies when they are born, learn the skills over time.

First part:
I believe we are born blank slate, but pick things up quickly there after.
Second:
Biologically its a good idea. We've been breed for thousands of years to do just that. Only in the last few hundred years has the idea been frowned upon. Humans peck sexually between 14-25 so biologically that's the way you're wired.
In today's society people should be allowed to breed though unless they past an intelligence test. An trust me there are two or three generations that we need to just go ahead and skip.

I think that once a child truely starts to develop in the womb it begins to learn.
The body develops reactions to what the mother eats, essentially developing a taste for food.
Example; When I was in my mothers womb she forced herself to eat fish (She HATES fish,) because she was told it helps develop brains in the child, now I didn't eat fish until I was roughly 5 and I loved it.
Now sure it could be the fact that I just happened to like fish, but taking into account nobody else in my family tree (In the last 2 generations before me,) could even stand to smell fish.
I think that the child starts to develop before it is born, and the conditions it is in when the development of vital origins beings completely shape the child.
(Easily proven with the fact that if a mother drinks alcohol while the child is in the womb it can have major disabilities.)

If you have a job that can maintain a family in a proper way, have a baby whenever you'd like to be honest.
Just be prepared for torture.

Do you think babies are born with some skills or do they learn over time?
Both. They are born with the Annoying Skills..
Then they starts to learn how to control it xD
So, Is it right to have a baby in your teens?
No its not right. In my opinion I think it ruins ur life.

I had a baby when I was a teenager. At 17. I'm 20 now. I have a job. And I'm in college. Having a child wasn't my choice. It was, and I'm sure alot of other cases too, an accident. I love my daughter. More than my own life. I'm happy. She's happy. But if I could look back. I would've finished college first. Being a young mother isn't fun and games. Being a mother isn't fun and games period. So you kiddies should respect your parents more. You probably cost them a lifetime when you were born. I'm sure it's worth it. But some of you kids are just soooo annoying. Like you were taught manners in the cave days.
psh.
I love the way you lie.
Even if you're a tornado and I'm a volcano.
I'd still luff you <3

I think that everyone has there own learning skills. They are born with different skills. Some may be able to talk right away, some may be able to walk in stead of crawl. It just base on the person.
And yes is not the best idea to have a child in your teen age. But sometimes it is not planned out and she just gets pregnant. I know alot of girls that are pregnant or were pregnant in high school.

on 1st part i think that SOME babies MAY be smart from little tho ... MOST learn later , and sometimes a learner becomes better than the learned
on 2nd part i think - Totaly NO , i dont want to go to school, then to job, then to feed a baby at 2am.... ppl should have babies when they have the right man/women with them so they can separate the cares of it and would be more easy to take care of it ... thats what i think
- 12 Dec. 2009 08:04pm #28
Hmm that is the idea of born or bred. I do believe a lot fo things have to do with being born in its own.. basic abilities... and are taught to do other things and develope their personalities around their parents. Soo a little of both I guess xD
- 12 Dec. 2009 09:36pm #29
Babies are born with basic human adaptations.
- 12 Dec. 2009 09:36pm #30
yes they taught them selves how to eat sleep and shit.
and no

I think babies learn skills later on in life...I also think that having a kid in your teens is not Entirely Accepted by Society but if you can handle it go on ahead and do it...youll be looked at like a slut but its a risk youll have to take when you decide to do it....
