I've heard of it before. And your not getting over your addiction, your still getting nicotine. So basically, you Lenten promise was pointless.

I've heard of electric cigarettes. You can get herbal ones that cause no damage, but nicotine is a harmful chemical regardless. I won't preach because I too smoke like a chimney.
I've quit a few times. I'm sure that when the time comes I'll be able to quit forever.

yea but it slowly reduces it until you don't need the nicotine anymore so i'm sure god would be okay with me quitting for good instead of just 40 days

Ive heard of the Electronic Cigarettes but was kind of skeptical.
I don't need them though since the most I ever smoke is one or two cigarettes every 2 weeks. I don't get easily addicted to things.
So I guess sheer will power gets me through addictions. I know it's easier said than done though.I am steady killin' fools.

lol, no. Most of his work is still used today. Some isn't, and some is disputed. He still contributed a lot of work that was revolutionary and still valid.
@Kojinako,
That's the beautiful thing about psychology. I haven't studied this particular topic in depth, but if I had to theorize, I'd say that humans are born innately requiring oral stimulation. This needs is what attracts us to breastfeeding, and breastfeeding increases our odds of survival (yay, evolution). I shouldn't need to go into detail about breastfeeding itself, as I assume you know already.
Having this innate attraction, if our desire is not satisfied, it is harbored with us throughout life, manifesting (as do most things) through our sexuality. Sex being the ultimate desire of all living things (yay, evolution), a lot of psychological manifestations will appear through sexual desires, fetishes, and the like. A desire for oral stimulation is just one of them.
All adults can become 'addicted' to oral stimulation. This is why people bite their nails or chew on their pencils when they're nervous - or just for the Hell of it. The oral stimulation is an innate trait in humans to promote breastfeeding. Even breastfed persons can still find themselves addicted to oral stimulation - it's just not as likely, and I don't think it manifests sexually as often. Cigarettes offer this stimulant, and any long-time smoker will tell you how one of the hardest things about quitting is the oral stimulation. That's why Nicotine gum is a gum (although they have patches too). The gum provides the stimulation needed.
That's why OP can smoke water instead of cigarettes and it still provide the calming effect that it does.

I'm not a smoker, but I'd be lying if I said I never WANTED to try one. (I never have had one, just been curious as to what it's like). So I was thinking a safe way to get a taste of what it's like would to be to get one of those. There's no harm in it, and it's just water vapor but it gives the same effect.
They look neat as hell.☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION
