its unfounded. unless they tracked the feed to the school, there is no proof of anything. simple as that. once there is solid and indesputable proof that the school was spying through his web cam, which is equally unlikely unless he is storing openly and has a keylog on his laptop, there is no case and the boys parents will most likely lose the case and an assload of money on lawyers and shit once this is all over.

Apparently the school claims it's a security measure if their laptops are stolen, and that they dont' check on students. But they caught one kid doing (what looked like) drugs and punished him for it at school (for what he did in his bedroom). So yeah, if it is true the school caught themselves in their own lie.

It's not his laptop though, it's the school's laptops (seriously what kind of school has the funding to give each kid a laptop for a year?). So them installing shit on it isn't that far-fetched. It's the fact that apparently the web cam was activated when it was is a student's house (as they are supposed to take them home).

Since its the property of the school, and he is only using in school, then no, the student's parents dont have a case at all. The school can put a keylogger, and basically any program on a computer in the school that they want. there is no laws about putting those programs on your own property.

There is no law against it but that isn't the issue. This will be a case of right to privacy and based on precedents( and the court almost always upholds precedent without just cause to over turn which mean this will go Supreme Court and be all over the news) this is a no brainier, the student will have right to privacy at home and the school will get in trouble.

Its no case. The FBI has no point in being there. When in a school environment, you give up certain rights. A right to privacy on school computers doesnt exist. It is the property of the school disctrict, not the student therefore the student has no precidence here.
