Since its the property of the school, and he is only using in school, then no, the student's parents dont have a case at all. The school can put a keylogger, and basically any program on a computer in the school that they want. there is no laws about putting those programs on your own property.
There is no law against it but that isn't the issue. This will be a case of right to privacy and based on precedents( and the court almost always upholds precedent without just cause to over turn which mean this will go Supreme Court and be all over the news) this is a no brainier, the student will have right to privacy at home and the school will get in trouble.
