Whats your view on it?
I read the whole series, just so I could hold my own in arguments about it, and I must say... It sucks.
Found this earlier today, and I totally agree.
Save your time: here's the entirety of Twilight in 20 dialogue snippets & a wiggedy-wack intermission.
First 200 pages:
"I like you, Edward!"
"You shouldn't! I'm dangerous!"
"I like you, Edward!"
"But I'm dangerous!"
Next 50 pages:
"I'm a vampire!"
"I like you, Edward!"
"But I'm a vampire! I'm dangerous!"
"I like you, Edward!"
Next 100 pages:
"I like you, Edward!"
"You smell good, Bella. I'm dangerous!"
"I like you, Edward!"
"Damn, you smell good."
"I like you, Edward!"
"Also, I glow in sunlight."
Next 50 pages:
A. VAMPIRE. BASEBALL. GAME.
(I wish I was kidding)
Last 100 pages:
"Help me, Edward! I'm being chased!"
"I'll save you!"
"Help me, Edward! I'm scared!"
"I'll save you!"
"Oh, Edward!"
"You smell good."

Hate it. Somehow it's a teen romance, and vampires don't fuck their food. Not to mention everything was so Quiet. What little action there was, was only for a split second with little excitement.
Sort of like a hooker in new york.☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION

I was a fan before the movies and before I read the last book. I read the books at the urging of a fan just as they came out. I could get past the terrible writing style and failures with grammar. I could even get past Jacob who is the most annoying pathetic character ever imagined come the third book. I can even give you stupid sparkle skin and vampire mafia. I can't give you vampire X-men and baby, especially if you can't give me sex scene. An even then I won't ever give you the baby or the Jacob baby pedophilia. The xmen bit really pisses me off after they say power are uber rare and then everyone has them and Bella just magically gets some. Its such bull. The last book was so terrible. What a way to shoot your series in the foot and then nail the coffin shut.
On top of that she stole her last book almost word for word. Why the hell would you steal such a terrible book?
Then the movies hit and Twilight fandom went to hell in a hand basket. It was going that way when the books got popular but it wasn't what it is now. I'd be interested in reading "Midnight Sun" if the author ever gets over being a whiny bitch. Her other book "The Host" was actually really good in my opinion.
I like romances which is the only reason I liked it I guess. Some how I managed to identify with Edward by some miracle when I was reading it. Which is why "Midnight Sun" is of interest to me.

I read the book because it was newly written and no one heard of it. My teacher would hand off random new releases to me that she was considering using for her class. When I first read it, the romance sounded like a true teenage romance. It was ok, next book comes along loosing interest because Bella turned emo and even more stupid, by the third book I'm bored cause it sounds like it was just repeating.
She raped my version of vampires.
I've read extremely better, but apparently the kiddies who can barely grasp the concept of love and true vampires loved it. I know the work doesn't deserve the credit it got. I was hoping it would inspire Anne Rice to come out of her hole and destroy S.M.'s limelight.

Yeah! That summarizes it pretty well.
Anyway my friend forced me to read Twilight. After she mentioned it a few times, I finally got a cheapo paperback copy and started reading it. It took a while but the thing grew on me.
It's not so much the accuracy or the actual plot...I guess it was the delivery of it that got me to enjoy the story.
I dunno, or maybe I just like sparkly vampires? LOL. Kidding.
At any rate, I did enjoy it enough to read all four books but it's not enough to make me want to kill every Twilight hater and collect every Edward/Bella newspaper article. At most I just kinda dislike those who just feel like it's cool to hate something popular.
I hate the movies though. They have 80s special effects (the zooming and the ghostly apparition of Edward whispering to Bella when she was doing stupid reckless things).
And the ending sucked. They should have done something epic with the vampire face off thing.Last edited by nekocat; 18 Feb. 2010 at 02:32am.

I read it back when it first came out, my friend yomira was reading it so I just borrowed it when she was done. (I'll read pretty much anything) I ended up reading the whole series because for some reason, no matter how lame a book series is, unless it's unbearable. I'll read it, all of it. =3= In any case I didn't mind the first two book all to much, but after that is just got kind of out there. The 4th book, really, really killed.
It proved that bella was the biggest God moding mary sue in all of book history. Ahhh I'm a vampire now and I'm so awesome I can block EVERYONE'S Powers. And not only that I can cover EVERYONE with it, so I WIN!
I was like wtf? And the baby thing was just way out there.
Edit: Oh and I can't stand the movies at all. They are like 100x worse than the books. D:
All hail kitty pig.

My sister and brother in law, who LOVED the book series were both disgusted at the movies.

That description cracked me up! Brilliant!
The book, I found tolerable. Ended up reading them all (don't get me started on that ending (overall). Build up, tension, WALK AWAY?)
The movie can be summed up with "Bella looks at Edward, Edward looks at Bella, drama, repeat"

Vittorio di Raniari and Ursula will kick Edward and Bella Cullen asses any day. Now that was a true vampire couple. The guilt of living forever, but the blood lust and hate for human life. Even if Vittorio and Ursula hated each other until their little escapade and massacres <3
There was none of this love at first sight shit. They wanted to murder each other.

As I have said before to the many quotes that it spawned once upon a time:
Twilight is a literary abortion.
It bastardizes everything that vampires were in literature, vile, brutal, bloodthirsty, savage, cunning, intelligent. Everything that they were supposed to be and turned it into sparkles in the sun, falls for humans, extremely emo, and actually makes Ann Rice's and Bram Stoker's vampire incarnations roll in their ashes.
It is a bastardized, teenage mastabatory aid that should really just be burned, ironically like the creatures it has ruined.

Eh, books were alright, movies sucked, sparkly vampires no, half-breeds no, just no.
Why vampires???? Twilight ruined them.
If every twi-hater wrote a story about REAL vampires, then maybe the world would realise that VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE!Sorry if I seem n00by, I'm new to all this stuff.

Reading Twilight honestly felt as though it lasted as long as Edward's life.
*ahem*
All snarky comments aside, I just couldn't get into Twilight. I've read the entire series and seen the movie (not New Moon though), so I'm able to hopefully present some sort of knowledge of the series. My main complaint with the novel was the entire concept of Edward. His character revolved around the singular trait of perfection. The closest thing that could be interpreted as a flaw within him was the fact that he spent too much time thinking and not enough time doing. That flaw has been portrayed in literary characters multiple times in the past. One example that comes to mind is Hamlet. However, in Shakespeare's case, it was actually done well, as opposed to Meyer's attempt.
Just my two cents.
