I don't know. I just don't think its necessary.
I go into 'New Posts' and its flooded with 'His' Posts.
It is a bot correct? I would hate to hear that one of the admins is wasting their time with this stuff...

Remove the 'News Bot'...
- 30 Apr. 2010 06:23pm #2
I'm going to agree, same thing, it floods the new posts. Although sometimes it is interesting, most of the time it's just useless.
Perhaps users could have a filter of what kinds of news they see.LG's Dyke. Enough. Said.

It gives us news. Why else would it be here?
I think its fine-ish.
It also gives people opportunity to postShh, I'm watching My little pony.

It stops people from posting the news in 6 different threads. there is a need for it, but no one posts when there is a new News Bot thread, so discussion is hard to come by.
And yes, it is a bot, not an actual admin.Voted Hottest Male Member

It was created in order to prevent the spam. When LG first came back, half of the GD threads were random news articles, usually about little events that nobody cared about. Now it is against the rules to post any news articles, and the news bot only posts those that actually have some impact.

Umm... No, but I don't think the admins particularly like that you are posting in them either.
Its called 'Comcast.Net' / 'IGoogle.com/ig' / etc
Eh, It is spam.
But in Bot form. Which makes it 'Okay'.
Hmm... Thats not backwards...
It was created to spam, in order to prevent spam... xD
Most of us don't even go there.
Yes a few of us do. Some spam, they can get their post docked or something.
Just a suggestion. (Something to consider.) Since some of us don't like it...
- 01 May. 2010 04:30am #12
ED, it was created to spam in order to prevent the spam that was already occurring. Defy, it is understood under the "No spam" rule not to post lots of news topics, like were occurring at the beginning of LG2.0 because you would be posting something most likely already posted by the bot.

Feel free to post in them. I have a few times. Posting news articles is not against the rules.

Exactly, making the GD, Dead... Loosing us members...
I am saying, responding to a bot is useless... No need for a 'discussion'...
I would much rather have a discussion of normal people and less frequent posts... Sounds Ideal to me...
If users spam, I am sure the admins will reap justice on them (Bans, Reduced post count, etc).
- 01 May. 2010 10:04am #15
Are you that illiterate?
He said we CAN Post in them. So we CAN get more member with more posts.
It ISNT against the rules to post in them.
We're not LOOSING members because the bot is running, if anything we are creating more... I know I find some of the topics interesting.
The news bot CREATES Discussion, not stops it.
Nuff saidShh, I'm watching My little pony.

I like the news bots.
Im too lazy to got to other sites.
I actually read most of em
Humans yawn when they think of it.
- 01 May. 2010 02:25pm #17
No one posts a reply for a discussion if a bot is posting the news...
Point by example, NOW!
1) Its not very logical to have the news be in the General Discussion if no one is gonna reply, either. (No conversation in those posts...)
Discussion :
-an act or instance of discussing; consideration or examination by argument, comment, etc., esp. to explore solutions; informal debate.
-Consideration of a subject by a group; an earnest conversation.
-A formal discourse on a topic; an exposition.
I am expressing my opinion...
I am glad to hear that some of the users like it though...
- 01 May. 2010 02:57pm #18
Maybe because your not interested doesn't mean we aren't.
It does create discussions. Maybe not all the time. But it does.Shh, I'm watching My little pony.
- 01 May. 2010 06:01pm #19
I have never seen anyone post in them, or comment. Therefore not making a discussion. A discussion needs comments, otherwise it isn't a discussion.
It's fine to be interested, but you can see this news by navigating to google or something. No need to have it flood our 'New Threads'.
I feel as though I am repeating myself.

Your not getting the last word in this one.
Just because (as BMAN said) you are not interested doesn't mean we aren't. Just because we don't hold conversations within those threads doesn't mean we don't read them, or talk about them. For example; I like the news bot because instead of having to go find the current news on whats happening it does that for me and posts some of the interesting stuff. Me and Brandon talked about a few topics over msn. Do we have to make a JY thread so it can be spammed by Defy's WhoreCraft? No. The News bot is doing it's job, I suggest you do yours and keep some of your opinions to your self.

You can do whatever you want. I never said you had to post news...
If navigating to google is too hard for you, you should think about going on Weight Watchers.
Reading =/= Discussion
Posting and having conversations = Discussion
If people posted, "OH shiznit, why would they do that" or whatever the hell they post. I could understand, otherwise Newsbot posting is not a discussion.
This ^
I am pretty Damn sure, the suggestion section was made to hold suggestions from the general public. Meaning having users post.
By that, I think I am supposed to post what I feel will help the site...
YAY, finally a thread with posts other than the News Bot's!
- 02 May. 2010 06:00am #26
Kinda wondering have you opened your eyes? GD has about 10 new threads a day that aren't related to the News Bot. The news bot only posts in "THE CURRENT".

The only problem I really have with the News Bot is it's posting more new discussions in the time that I have to apply to one. I think it'd be better if it slowed down a little to give people the time to discuss something.

I don't go to a lot of his threads, because there are few I am interested in, typically that have no posts after his so I don't get to hear their opinions on the subject, and by the increasing amount of his spammy posts...
I knew there was...
I do read some of his articulates but not many... Due to the fact that no one posts afterward to express their feelings / ideas / etc. I am way more interested in that stuff...
This ^
Why else would it be posting in the discussion forum...

^ This. I think it's better off in it's own JY section, at least. I don't know about anyone else, but personally I've only read maybe five of the news bots articles, and it's frequent constant updating is pushing me away from GD. Because now it's almost impossible to have a conversation in there without it being drowned away by news that nobody will read and discuss.
Plus, I think the JY has more of a traffic problem than GD does, seeing as how GD only gets 10 new threads a day and JY gets a thousand. So I think at least, it should be kept in JY, or hell even it's own sub-section like GD and JYLast edited by Raivu; 02 May. 2010 at 05:39pm.

At least people would post in the treads about how they feel on certain topics...
It can be removed or easily moved... xD
Idc if you like me or not.
I have known you don't like me for a long time...
I am around because I still make good posts... And am one of the only ones doing so...

It's kinda useful, only downside, is that it has more posts than boobearsh :/

Aight. Eternal. STFU. The news bot was put there by arti. Dont like it, leave. The admins dont waste there time, if they do something for LG it is for the best of LG.
Also, you need to start on something for the community. I havnt seen you release anything.
