I know you know how to do this flawlessly Charles.
You should definitely make a guide for it as I want to do this.
Hopefully this can also get a TF2 economy going.

What's TF2 idling? Is that where you just sit in a server and watch as you get tons of free items over time? That sounds freaking awesome.

For anyone wanting to do this before a full guide is up, the command line for this is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 440 -cl_showbackpackrarities 1 -novideo -textmode -nosound -noipx -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw -maxplayers 2 +sv_lan 1 +map "itemtest"

That's amazing, I'm loving it. How do I know when I'm getting items though? It's sitting at:
Code:No pure server whitelist. sv_pure = 0 TerrorErrorIst connected Compact freed 532480 bytes

For some reason, this causes my router to spaz out and then I have to re set-up everything...
It makes me really mad.
It might just be my router.

It has to just be your router. This shouldn't cause anything different than actually playing TF2 causes. Because it's doing literally the same thing, Internet-wise. This is just TF2 without the graphics. If someone else were to join your server that this creates, they'd see you in game and be able to kill you and such.
Though it may be that this creates a server that is spazzing your router. Though creating a server isn't really that resource-intensive. It might be a problem with your router handling port forwarding or something stupid.

I don't have any port forwarding set up on my router, but it works fine for me. I'm loving it too, I've already got nine items in the few hours I was running it the other day, it's an amazing find Charles.
