I suggest it be rid of or greatly lowered. There are plenty of posts with under 10 characters, and I don't think the 10char limit is stopping anybody. It just results in them adding space padding or whitetext to make it 10char, thus not increasing the actual message length by any amount at all. It's a temporary hassle that's not preventing anything (i.e. messages under 10char in length).

If your using the 10char thing then your post isn't worth posting, a forum if for debates and conversations not one word answers.

I concur, and the 10 character minimum isn't helping any, as it's not stopping anyone from posting messages less than 10 characters.

I think any post under 10 char should be considered spam if its not in the JY because people just say ok. 10char that spam.
- 11 Dec. 2009 04:54pm #5
It will be considered spam if it isn't at least 10chars Example ! this site wants you to use complete sentences
- 11 Dec. 2009 06:26pm #6
The thing is, people do that anyway. They just say "ok. 10char10char" instead, or "Ok[bunch of spaces]." The 10char limit isn't changing anything except padding posts with useless content.

as of now the character minimum in a post is 10 characters. if anything the character limit should be increased to 20 or 30 if it would actually work, since the same thong would happen reguardless.
sinc there is no way to really stop it, theres no point in trying to stop something that is gonna happen requardless of what the character limit is for posts.

Yeah I vote no on this one. It is primarily a spam filterer and it would be useless to get rid of. At least it does something.

Did you not read the posts? It doesn't do anything. It just gets annoying. Especially in the Junkyard, where nobody cares if it's spam or not. But even outside of the JY, if someone wants to post something less than 10 characters, they will, blocker or not. So the only thing it accomplishes is being annoying on the most active forum on this site. Doesn't sound like a positive thing, imo.

well i'd rather it be a bother and to exist rather than for it to not be there at all.
Heck i used to go on profile pages wanting to simply say like "Hi arti" but it was too short so then i say "Hi Arti how are you?" or something and it actually has a point to it as well. so Yay to the 10 character limit?
and to be frank i dont see how you can make a post or a visiter message with a whole point in it with under 10 characters. (not that "Ok" or "no" nonsense with a quote ....)Resigned ...

I'm not saying you can. I'm saying the 10 character limit doesn't stop people. Instead of a pointless, "Hello," they posted a pointless "Hello 10char." Thus the limit isn't preventing spam. Or doing anything but being annoying.
- 12 Dec. 2009 06:59pm #13
then isnt that something to annoy them to convince them more to think about their post more carefully?

In theory, yes. In practice, no.
Since the vast, vast majority of posts <10char are in the Junkyard, where 'rethinking posts' isn't something you do, it's annoying people who don't need to be annoyed. Outside of the JY, <10char posts aren't hardly possible, and when they are, people just whitetext them.

I agree with Game Chief
I hate the 10 char limit

I also vote no...Saying "ok" is not always spam...I dont think i should have to write a sentence when i can sum it up with a 2letter word
