Users with only 50 plus posts should only be able to access trades. Why is this? Because the same people keep coming back and scamming LG members, get banned, and do it again. What would this do?
This would stop them from doing that. It would also create more activity.
I know a lot of people come here just to trade with people here but do you think scammers will keep coming back if they get banned and have to earn 50 posts to get back into the trading section? I bet you anything they'll grow tired of creating new LG accounts, getting 50 legitimate posts so they don't get banned for spamming, just to scam someone.
EDIT: I also forgot about Junkyard. If this does go through then post count in JY should be disabled.

It's not like it'd matter anyways, if they want to scam someone bad enough they will regardless of post count.
I think people should just start using a middle man, it's what they're here for.
All hail kitty pig.

A person who posts 50 times in the JY is still a scammer, he just has a small road block. Any road block is better than just letting them run free. I think that this is an ok idea. Its not great, but it might help stop some scammers faster.

I say it would stop alot of scammers.
But it would also defeat the purpose of having middlemans if you won't use them causing more people to get scammed.

Middlemen are just there for who needs them... not many do... In most cases, you'd get scammed just as easily using the MM as the direct trade... Either way, that's not the topic at hand...
Scammers will exist no matter what. 50 post requirement just makes them work for it. This is not going to stop scamming at all. Just delay it.
I'm for the idea, as I said above...

50 posts seems like an average for everything.
idunno maybe like 100 posts or 70.

I like the idea. I've no problem going to earn more posts so I can trade with you people.
Also, inb4 "You people?! What do you MEAN you people?"

I agree with this. Scammers would yes, post 50 times, scam, then remake their account twice maybe 3 times but then they become tired so they just stop.
That's how life is.

The trading section is already dead. Making a requirement to trade will lower that rate even more.
The seller knows how to have a safe transaction. If they refuse to use a middleman, then it is their fault. No profit for them.

It is because they were not careful and didn't request a middleman.
You should also notice the fact that the trading sections is dead.

by trading section I assume you mean "LG is dead". Also its kind of funny to be afraid of scammers on a site dedicated to stealing and scamming people online.

go ahead and ban me now, it wont matter man, if youre that anal about a dead website and a thread getting dug go cry some more. i posted without checking dates and when i logged in(first time in weeks) it was on the top of the list so i assumed it was new. also though negative in its first half my post was on topic which was scamming in LG, so i wouldnt consider that spam, anyway, have fun being obsessively anal about your thread chad. tata

They aren't in the wrong. I doubt this thread was on page 2. And they weren't spamming, what they where saying was relevant to the conversation. Also, if you find spam posts then simply report them. Don't post saying that they spammed etc. Later today the Mods will work on clarifying what is considered spam on LG.
On topic,
I do support the suggestion of adding a requirement to be able to post in the trading section.
Also, how does everybody feel about combining the trading section and the gaia trading section? It's kinda silly that we have two trading sections.Last edited by Elliot; 30 Sep. 2010 at 09:38pm.

@Thomas: yes combine them. All trading should go into one area.
@topic: it would be somewhat safer but scammers will alway be scammers.
Which is why you need to learn how to trade before trading.

Thank you Thomas, also, I would agree combining sections seems logical since Gaia trading is really just a subsection of trading
