My new laptop has it. Anyone have any experience with it? Thoughts?
So far, it seems simple enough. I don't like managing application windows or the absense of the start button, but programs and desktop work great enough. Dual monitor support also supports the Windows taskbar, which wasn't in 7, so that's neat. I'm sure I'll get used to no start button, since pressing the Windows key opens the Start menu, which is efficient and all.
Monitoring apps through the top-left corner, I don't know if I'll ever like. I am hoping there is another way to do it, like some key IDK about yet.

Windows 8

It's an alright OS. Pretty good when you get used to it. I liked it, but generally prefer 7 due to maturity.
If you want to go back to the classic 7 start menu -- which most tend to do -- then download a third party app. I heard a Windows 8 patch is coming out to replace the Metro stuff for those who want to opt to. (It's called "Windows Blue" or something I believe)
Sooner or later you're probably going to need to migrate to Win8 due to support, security and such. So I decided to try it and get familiarized with it. It wasn't as disappointing as some initially made it seem.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 29 Aug. 2013 at 06:13pm.

I actually like the Windows 8 start menu. I don't know why people don't. I guess they assume the applications on the start menu are the "main" Windows functionality, instead of the Desktop. It does unfortunately present itself that way, but thinking of the Desktop as the main content and the start menu as -- as it always has been -- a list of programs, it is very efficient, functional, quick loading, and easy to navigate and customize.
I just don't like the app windows. The only way I've found out how to close them [besides from the top-left popup from the desktop] is good ol' Alt-F4. But I feel that shouldn't be necessary.

I liked it too. It was different but at the same time also pretty intuitive. I, for one, actually like the tiles.
But I believe that can be modified through utilities similar to what I suggested. Not sure. But yeah, it can tend to be redundant at times.
All in all, Windows 8 is pretty good though.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 29 Aug. 2013 at 10:01pm.

It looks good but. It's just a over nerfed version of windows 7.

I'm using Windows 8 atm and its really neat compared to Windows 7. They took a huge chance on Windows 8 and I really like it.

I need to get win8 soon I think.
So many people had troubles using my old script on it and I had no idea what was going on.
Is python just retarded on 8 or what?
Also, that 8.1 update? what's the consensus on that.https://discord.gg/TvN6xUb ~ chat on discord pls.

Upgrade to 8.1 in the windows store, its much nicer and runs a little cleaner. It also has a nifty feature for restoring your pc's productivity or whatever that means.

I have 8.1 and they added a start button but it takes you to the same menu as when you would press the Windows Key. I like Windows 8 but at first I hated it... It made me mad because I though Microsoft finally got something right with Windows 7 and now they had to go and change a bunch of stuff with it...
