getting in the c++ programming scene. But I need some beginner book recommendations, some cheap ones. I was checking out some cheap ones on Barnes and Noble such as the dummy series ones, are those any good? Also do you recommend watching some videos on YouTube such as: C++ Tutorial (1) - Absolute n00b spoonfeed - YouTube
Thank you for your time.

Start with something easier and more beginner friendly, like Python.

I started with C++, and while it was a lot harder, I think it was a great choice. SAMS' "Teach yourself C++ In an hour a day" is a really great book for beginners, it's what I have. It uses examples that are easy to understand and stuff, compared to most programming books. It also goes fairly in-depth, not a bad book at all. It cost me like $50 at Barns and Noble.

I don't think that really matters.
But if you really want to learn C++ and have legitimate reasoning for doing so, go for it. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
@Flare but you don't really know the language. Like Artificial said in the past, you probably know like 20% > of the language. So that's not really starting out with it. Your post is pretty misleading to beginners because it's a simple fact that C++ as a language in general is not easy.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 19 Feb. 2013 at 07:36pm.
