If anybody would participate in a programming contest post here with what language you'd prefer.
Btw, the prize is money. But I'm only holding the contest if enough people participate.

Sounds awesome, I would participate. I would prefer like C++/Java/Python, even though I don't really know Python haha. Only language I don't really like is Visual Basic.

Oh that would be cool, just make sure you can grade it haha.
So, is this going to be based on form, layout, cleanliness, and simplicity?
Sounds cool, and I love programming challenges/contests, they always encourage me to program and sometimes give me ideas for new programs and stuff. If anything, it gives me something to do on a rainy day.

Sounds good, I hope some other people will be into this so we can actually do it. Man, this would have been perfect a few weeks ago, a ton of programmers randomly came back and some were already here (There was me, unintelligible, isonyx, matt, and a few others I think)
I just remember a lot of people posting in the Programming forum.

But I thought programming was for chumps.
Btw, you shouldn't bound your contests to a particular language. That would kill variety. Lrn2BranchOut.
Also I'm not able to participate at the moment, unfortunately.

I'm not sure if you're asking as a counter-mesure or if you're planning that as your tactic. But in short, no. There are a thousand ways to do any one task with programming. And for those who do try and plagiarize work there's a good chance I can find out. They found it from Google, so can everyone else.

Unintelligible dodging. Anyone can open up notepad and write some code. Needless to say I'd participate.

I have this curious case of OCD (self-diagnosed). I'm on like a 4+ year old computer with only AutoIt installed, 2 GBs of RAM (sufficient, but not satisfying), and 25 GBs of HDD space.
If I had a decent computer, I'd be up to almost any challenge Programming related. I could always throw some code together, but it wouldn't feel self-gratifying. It would feel dirty just writing the code.
Oh and I'm on Winblows. I can't be bothered installing Linux on something this bad. Like seriously.
Side note: I'm like $100 away from buying another computer.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 23 Jan. 2013 at 02:57am.

There's enough people willing to participate. Here's how the prize will be distributed. Paypal, Steam Gift, App Store gift, etc. The amount will be announced in the actual contest thread. So keep an eye on the forum for it. I should have it posted by later tonight.

$100 away from buying another computer
Just do some freelance programming or web design work or something. Or heck, get there even faster using the winnings from this competition haha. I would love to send you any surplus computer hardware I have right now, but I have none at the moment. In a few weeks I might have 3GB of DDR2 RAM, a mobo and an Intel Pentium Dual Core, but I doubt that would be much of an upgrade for you. Maybe the RAM.
Sounds cool, this should be pretty fun. Someone should try to get ahold of some of the programmers that left and see if we can get them to join, PM them on facebook or steam or skype or something.
