Computer Books Review Thread

So, I've gotten quite a few computer books, and here's my review of them.

1.) Title will go here when I remember it.

Was focused too little on any topic. They would explain something, not explain it's relevance at all, and then move on much too quickly to the next topic. I got almost nothing out of that book, and all they gave for counting in other number systems was a complicated algorithm that could never be used quickly and efficiently for converting numbers at a small scale. Overall, the book is good for an extreme beginner, but is horrible if you're really trying to learn something.

2.) Connecting with Computer Science by Greg Anderson, David Ferro, and Robert Hilton.

One of the best, if not the best computer science books I've ever read. It explains everything from a motherboard to counting in binary to programming tools extremely in-depth, though I don't feel it goes into advanced-enough topics. It teaches a cool trick to count in binary easily and in your head, along with hexidecimal and others. It's a nice book, even though it's fairly old.

3.) SAMS Teach Yourself C++ by Jesse Liberty, Siddhartha Rao, and Bradley Jones.

Another extremely good book, this one is about C++ programming. It teaches you extremely abstract terms in simple ways. It's a great book for beginners, and people who are looking to learn C++ as one of their first programming languages. It should be paired up with online programming resources though, because I don't feel that any book is complete enough to not have to look some things online.

I'll update this topic when I read more books, or get more time to write up a report about them.

Yeah, I know. I have a ton more books I've read but I haven't had time to write up shit on them, too busy with school this week. Hopefully I'll get it done this weekend.
