What do you mean Live Feed? Are you talking about when you go online to a free streaming site such as tinychat or livestream and you can stream your self and or your computer screen?

I have the live feed working (like Twitter and Facebook) but I'm not sure how to stop the automatic update and make it only when someone posts a story.

All it does is store it temporarily in a database or maybe permanently and keeps checking for new entry's into the database. It will display the latest entry's.
