And yeah, it's difficult because the first gym leader is Brock. If you lose to him, or any gym leader, you have to wait 24 hours before you can battle them again. so I'd make it count.
I leveled up a lvl 15 Butterfry, lvl 15 Charmander, multiple ratattas and a Spearow.
You DEFINITELY want Spearow.
He's the fastest of the beginners, and his wing attack does a decent amount of damage to Brocks pokemon.☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION
