Take Pokemon to a whole new level

So I haven't slept yet, it's 60am, and I was just outside having a cigarette and I had a fantastic thought.

We have the technology to identify just about anything by scanning or taking a picture of it. Modern technology and new gadgets have proved that.

So what if everybody had a Pokedex.
But this Pokedex identifies different types of grass, animals, and can tell the difference between fresh water and salt water.

By taking a picture of this type of grass, it gives us a list of what kind of wild Pokemon would be lurking there.
With that, we can battle these pokemon and catch them on our pokedex.

So here's my idea.

1. Wireless battle other trainers, or go oldschool and use cords
2. Save pokemon data in the pokedex
3. Cards you can buy and redeem codes at local stores that can give you potions, pokeballs, etc. depending on the kind of card you buy. Put that code in and you have that many Pokeballs/Items on the pokedex.
4. Gym leaders in every major city. (New York, Boston, San Francisco, etc.) You can find them at your local Pokemon center (that's where they'd work and get paid) So you can just walk in, challenge the leader, and if you win you get a badge.
5. With all of the badges, or with a certain amount of badges, you can go face the Elite 4 (located in the most major of cities. Same as gym leaders but more powerful and you have to go through 4 of them.)

So it's basically Pokemon but you can do it anywhere and find wild pokemon in real life. Except they'd be digital.

Its not a paradoxical statement. Its a description of the idea, which is genius. The only flaws are you have to get people into it and make the cards cheap as dirt.
Other thing to duld legitimize trainer as a life style, that's the only way to have Gyms and Elite 4. Regular trainers would require subsidized housing an such, aka Pokemon center hostels that serve food and provide medical care free or at low prices for when one travels to see Gym leaders and such.
Another thing to maybe add would be GPS that makes it so rather than taking pictures of everything you run into pokemon based n location, with option to enhance possibilities of various pokemon via pictures/scans. With this wireless trainer battles but at gym have holograms.

I wouldn't mind though, this would still be ultra fun

Yeah, of course. And they'd physically give you a badge as well.

@C0FFIN: Poke hotels and stuff would be a great investment, especially if Nintendo can pay them to tend to the aid of trainers. Sort of like a classier Soup kitchen.

Definitely. And it would also motivate kids to get outside more than the Pokewalker has.

I can win doing photography for a living, and completely fail at being a journalist.
Trainers can win at being trainers but fail at being lawyers.

Nobody can win in life :p Everything is a path, so the Trainer lifestyle is equally that of a firefighter. Just a lot cooler.

System could be monitered. Blackout periods, training caps, lvl adjustment at gyms, lvl cap based on badges.

And that would alienate those that would want to power-level, like how most of us do.

Yeah. And it would level the playing field between the poor trainers and the rich trainers who can afford to travel wherever, whenever, and have all the time in the world to train.

Getting actual money from beating other trainers might just be a tad much. That's already gambling. And I don't think Nintenduld encourage that.

No more than an Ipod. I mean, Cheap phone's you can get for free with a family plan already have the abilities to scan and identify items through the internet just by taking pictures of them.

I'm thinking you could do it kind of like Game cards.
20$ Pokeball card gives you like... 50 pokeballs.
1$ Pokeball card gives you like... 5 Pokeballs.

Actually we use holograms all the time. We had Elvis sing with someone on American Idol, Alice Cooper is doing a show with dead band mates, and I've personally seen holographic demonstrations in lab settings. Holograms are far from common place but we do have the technology and we do use it. Why not for this.
