They go through the Mc Plugins and make sure it doesn't detect their client. So no. Also MC can't ban you permenataly. You bought the game.

Actually minecraft won't do a damn thing to your account if your caught using xray mod or any other third-party program. Minecraft works a little differently than most games. The only place you'll get banned from is the current server that your playing on, since each server is owned and operated by regular people not employed by minecraft, they have no control over anything but the accounts registered on their website. And the website is only used for managing a skin as far as I know.
This is why minecraft is so loved, because of how open-source it. The game is kept alive by the modding community. Therefore any third-party mod isn't considered illegal, just some are shunned because it gives people a certain edge on servers.
