Q: Does the Mayan calendar end in December 2012?
A: Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar.

Q: Is the Earth in danger of being hit by a meteor in 2012?
A: The Earth has always been subject to impacts by comets and asteroids, although big hits are very rare. The last big impact was 65 million years ago, and that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Today NASA astronomers are carrying out a survey called the Spaceguard Survey to find any large near-Earth asteroids long before they hit. We have already determined that there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed the dinosaurs. All this work is done openly with the discoveries posted every day on the NASA NEO Program Office website, so you can see for yourself that nothing is predicted to hit in 2012.
That just made me laugh a bit..

Alot of Different people depict different event's. most untrue, used to just to cause a stir and attention.
buh with the Mayans, i know there a ancient civilization and all. but with this whole 2012 stir. back then, they probs try'd to understand time, and came across this because they didnt plan on living long? eh who know's the answer, i know i dont but.
the movie 2012 looks great, buh in real life, i serously doubt it will happen, and if it does, all i can say is 1 word for then, Bye!╔════════════════════════╗

It's just funny how big of a dilemma it made. There's hundreds of "survivor plans for 2012" videos, and a lot of sites saying that it's true and not true. Hasn't this been going on for years but it's barely been getting very popular now?

Hollywood just wants to make money of the idea and scare the shit out of us

It's starting to get popular because the graduating Highschool and College classes are just entering Highschool/college.
I think they're the ones making a big deal.

I hate 2012 believers with a passion. A calendar has to fucking end somewhere. I think a thousand years into the future was *good enough* for them.

What I found funny was that during my last couple days in America I saw a TV commercial that was preaching about saving people from 2012; I literally fell off my chair laughing. Anyways, personally I think it's nothing more than the end of the Myan Long Count calendar.

They themselves have even said nothing would happen.
These events are hilarious. Y2K! 06/06/2006! Dec21 2012!
Coincidence that they're every six years? :p

For all the stuff that happens around here, LG itself is always remarkably unchanged. Thanks to the folks who still remembered I was once here and welcomed me back despite me being retarded.

Simple is BEAUTIFUL!

according to most scientists, when the sun loses all its fuel. But if we count 'end of the world' as per the death of the human species, unless we get our acts together I have no doubt that we'd book it in the next 100,000 years at most.

2012 is not about the end of the world. its the end on the human race because really the world can fix itself within a few million years just like it always does.

and then again, it wouldn't be surprising if evolution makes sure that we reappear in case the conditions end up right.
