Gateway DX4822-01 Desktop with Intel® Pentium® Processor & 20" LCD Monitor
Tech Specks under specifications. Thinking of buying it as a christmas gift for myself.
Thought I would get a second opinion. Any opinion is welcomed.

Depends what you are using it for. Overall its a great computer, especially for the price. BTW check up on the graphics card. It not the classic Nvidia or ATI series ones.

It has a Pentium Processor, which I don't like. But, it has a nice bit of hard drive space, and good memory. I say get it, because that price tag is great!

Get a Quadcore. Go on newegg and build your own. For the same money you can get a computer that is 2x better. And don't get less than 4Gb of ram. or 500Gb HD

If it's for gaming? No, you're better off making your own computer. If you're deadset on 500$ budget, here's a rig that'll have you playing crysis if you wanted to:
Case: Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UB Black /Blue Aluminum Bezel , SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
HD: Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
MB: Newegg.com - MSI NF750-G55 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
VC: Newegg.com - XFX PVT98GYDLH GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
PSU: Newegg.com - OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7 - Power Supplies
DDR3 RAM: Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864BA1336 - Desktop Memory
Processor: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon II X3 425 2.7GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
Total is just under 500$, plenty of room to breath, pretty futureproof and will play current gen games fine, most likely last a good few years before you needa upgrade a part or two. But the best thing about building your own PC is that you just need to buy the parts and not the whole rig again.

Well I would advise getting something other than a gateway and I uaually go more towards nvidia than ATI for graphics and you will need a quad core that processor is so obsolete, if not you will have to upgrade your processor in a couple of months at the most one year, sadly there is no information on the motherboard or your power supply I can't fully judge but I would rate it as a fair computer. I will agree that your RAM and your memory is good but it would be better to have two 500gb hard drives instead of one so you can use the other as a slave drive. I've never used Windows 7 either I still run on XP mainly because i still have the installation disk which is discontinued

Woah nice list. I will probably buy these things and build it. Thanks.
So all these parts will work together right? My computer won't set on fire or anything when I plug it in. XP (Horror Story I heard over the internet)
Ok. I will check it out. Thanks
So you basically suggest building one also.
I don't have a problem with window seven yet. But I have heard it is horrible. (Heard it was horribly glitchy).Last edited by Eternal Darkness; 13 Nov. 2009 at 02:10am.

Windows 7 is very good, and that Gateway system is good too, but with the graphics card and processor you won't get much performance out of it. Torain's is alright too, and i'll see if i can suggest a system later.
The ATI 5000 series is pretty good, but you might want to wait until Nvidia releases the GTX 300 before making a final decision on the video card.
