I have a question to figure out for class for extra credit. I have figured it out for the most part, but not completely. Here it is:
"Three ladies go to a restaurant for a meal. They receive a bill for $30. They each put $10 on the table, which the waiter collects and takes to the till. The cashier informs the waiter that the bill should only have been $25 and returns $5 to the waiter in $1 coins. On the way back to the table the waiter realizes that he cannot divide the coins equally between the ladies. As they didn't know the total of the revised bill, he decides to put $2 in his own pocket and give each of the ladies $1.
Now that each lady has been given a dollar back, each of the ladies has paid $9. Three times 9 is 27. The waiter has $2 in his pocket. Two plus 27 is $29. The ladies originally handed over $30. Where is the missing dollar?"

I hate math.
I don't understand things with numbers. My brain just does not work the same way the majority wants it trk.
My mind wants to assume the missing dollar is with the cashier. But I'll actually think for you.
...
Wait.
So.
They paid 9 bucks each.
And that totals to 27.
the bill was suppose to only be 25.
waiter stashed 2 bucks.
but if he gave it back they would've paid the 25.
25 is what they should've paid.
They gave 30. 10 ea.
5 in singles came back. through the waiter 2 was taken.
each was given 1 back.
9 ea + waiters 2.
.... let's include the waiter as a fourth lady person paying.
Let's say that three paid 10 and the fourth paid none.
5 from the 30 came back.
the three were repaid 1 and the fourth gained 2.
the three in total paid 9 each and the fourth had gained 2 when he gave none.
I don't know where i'm going with this I'm just writing out my thought process for you.
Wait wait.
"They paid 9 bucks each.
And that totals to 27.
the bill was suppose to only be 25.
waiter stashed 2 bucks.
but if he gave it back they would've paid the 25.
25 is what they should've paid."
They would've paid the amount they should've.
So.
The 27 bucks includes the 2 bucks the waiter pocketed.
But.
If you look at it the other way.
And you plus the three the ladies should've gained back. doesn't that total to 30?
So.
Isn't there not a missing dollar?
They should've paid 25.
25 + 3 = 28.
waiters got 2 bucks.
28 + 2 = 30.
Yea?

I do believe you have gotten it, that makes sense. It is all the random numbers being brought back up that makes the word problem difficult. Thank you sir. I have more riddles and shit if you wanna help with answering them lmao.

Yeah, you subtract the $2 that the waiter kept, not add it. They paid $9 each, and the waiter kept $2 of those $9 that they paid. $9 x 3 = $27. $27 - $2 = $25, which was what the bill cost.

I like riddles.
But I don't like math.
Though I'm also lazy.
So I'll only do whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it.

Well we were wrong, there was a missing dollar. 27/3=9.333 not 9. The rounding threw it off.
