Art Contests seems to be an easy way to make money.
Just gotta hate the fact that I'm gonna need to use paper and pen.
Should I bother buying a tablet?

If you buy a tablet spend the extra money and get a really nice one. All he cheaper end ones I've bought have crapped out on me in 2-3 months

I personally love the Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet, it's a great tablet and has lasted me a while. If you're looking to get into hardcore graphic design or art or anything like that, I would buy one of those multi-thousand dollar ones that have a screen and all of that stuff, those ones are insanely cool.

Only problem is I might be leaving next month until December. Wouldn't really want to let it go to waste.

Tablets are a lifesaver, IMHO. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing like good old fashioned pencil and paper, but tablets are time efficient and holy shit, layers. They make layers even sweeter.
I have both a Wacom Intuos 3 and a Wacom Bamboo. I love them both.

Buy a tablet that does what you want it to do.*
Doesn't have to be super high end. There are some great tablets for drawing artwork via the touchscreen. Look into those.

Are you entering any contests?
I entered my first with a new account, and I hope I win!
Art auctions are also good, if you make nice art than you'l get 10x the normal shop offer.
This one guy's bidding was up to 23m for just a waist up drawing!
