I didn't know people were actually into Adventure Time.
At the most I've probably watched like 5 episodes. Show never really interested me.

You have to really give it a chance to get into it. Once you do you'll find that it's pretty intelligent. The writers are very cool, they have a really good story and make a lot of jokes and references on the side but they are subtle about it and use goofiness to cover it. Several characters speak Korean and they make jokes in french and latin. Plus the whole thing is actually a post-apocalyptic world.
There is a big fan base. Some people are just into the surface stuff and some people are into the deeper stuff but really it's all pretty great. I'm of the opinion that it's one of the best thing I've seen on tv in a long time.

It's more than giving it a chance. I am absolutely in love with the original Adventure Time single that spawned the series. But when the series came out, I couldn't get into it at all. They obviously put quality work into it, but I thought it lacked the quality humor that you original had. It has its funny points, but it seems more focused on story than the pretending-random-is-normal atmosphere the original had.
So to each their own. Some people like the zany story. I liked the zany surrealism, which the series just doesn't have.
