is not math at all.
I'm supposed to be studying but my brain has a system I just can't hack through it seems.
1. Stare blankly at the problem.
2. Hear nothing but jumbled nonsense when someone tries to explain.
3. Rages and sends signals to varies parts of body to start twitching and cringing.
4. Commands hands to navigate to safer waters, such as reddit.
5. Pops up an hour later with, "hey, I get it--wait, nope. go look at more cats."
How do you guys study? Is math such a problem for you all as well, if so, have you found any study ways that work for you?

I suck at studying, and thats why I have horrible grades in school. I score insanely good grades on assessments and stuff, my scores say better than 100% of my school and stuff like that, but I still do really badly in my normal classes. I teach myself Calculus and programming and stuff, and yet I don't turn in assignments and do horribly on tests.

In maths, best method to study imo is just repetition. Learn how to solve a type of problem, do a bunch of questions on said problem, and you shouldn't forget. If you can't solve a problem, ask for help, and we can help you.

Yeah, practice makes perfect, It's just frustrating. I'll just keep trying, and might take you up on that suggestion. Thanks, artichoke.

I'm a math minor. It is the easiest subject because there is no memorization involved. Do you have a visual memory? If I described a mountain, could you see it in your head as if you were looking right at it? If so, when you see a math problem, visualize it. Graph it. Draw the graph in your head, point by point, connect the dots, etc. It helps you understand how a function changes as it is manipulated, or how two different variables interact. From there, I imagine it is just practice. The more you visualize, the better your brain gets at visualizing, and the easier math becomes.

That's a terrific perspective. My mountain was HUGE. With a snow top and everything. I must spread some rep around before, so my thanks will have to do.
