First came the dos command line, then the graphical user interface, and now the natural user interface which of course are touch tablets. Thoughts?

World is going mobile bro.

I agree, and I like it. I use to despise the thought of windows 8 being developed for touch devices but it really moves Microsoft in the right direction bringing their phones and os together into one entity. With windows phone 8 that is. And not going to lie, the Nexus Lumia 920 looks fucking gorgeous, especially with their new camera technology!

In december we are getting a new phone plan, I'm going to go for the windows side of things I think. The iPhone hasn't changed much in years and just doesn't seem appealing to me. Android is getting old school quickly, though I still love mine. With the launch of windows 8, I think a windows phone will be a nice companion. Maybe a windows tablet as well?

I doubt the world would ever go fully mobile. But the mobile market share is definitely meeting an influx.

I read an article recently that stated the sales of the PC are predicted to decline this year for the first ever.
I honestly think in the future everything will be mobile (mobile phones are getting more powerful, they should approach the capabilities of a PC), and we'll just connect them to larger displays. If my phone doubled as a PC, it'd be awesome.

Several months ago I wanted to buy a desktop. I thought I might be able to look at some in the department stores and such and pick up something cheap and do a few upgrades myself but there wasn't a place in town that had desktops, laptops and tablets only.
The ultimate end is mobility. The only exception might be computers and such in military or government instillations.
Like Arti has picked up on, we're pushing mobile a bit harder than power, which is a pain in the ass when you want power. Plus it puts a premium on both mobility and will ultimately drive up prices of desktops and such becaue no one will make them and if you want one the parts will be hard to acquire. For the moment we're in a good place since desktops are still down compared to mobile technology.

Power needs refrigeration, which needs space.

The LG Nexus 4 is set to have 2GB of RAM and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. You compare that to my iPhone 3 which has 256MB of RAM and a 600MHz single core processor and you can definitely see improvement. While cooling may be an obstacle, I think it's definitely not going to prevent us from getting to a set of specs that allow us to comfortably play most games.

Also, was in BestBuy today, they had their windows 8 machines out. Only one was touch and it was one of those all in one computers with the monitor and shaz. I was quite impressed. Very responsive, had popup keyboard as well as a physical one if you prefer as well as mouse. Had the same gui as windows 7 outside the new start menu as you all should be aware. You can launch stuff in the start menu, like ie, and use it in full screen like that or as an application like windows 7. The style of the buttons and shaz like exit and stuff was very blocky and slick like most tablets. They have done a fair job, unfortunately, they didn't have any windows 8 phones on display that were working. Only the plastic models that are shitty.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the touch interface much. Too big of buttons, too slow compared to a keyboard and mouse. I'll convert when they come out with neuro, or maybe just speed up touch things to be fast enough to compare with a normal keyboard and mouse. I'm not willing to sacrafice speed for something "new and improved". I mean seriously, why the hell do we even have a keyboard? NUI isn't an improvement when they have to integrate a touch-keyboard into it, it's an improvement when they find a completely new way to take user input, that far surpasses the keyboard.

I'd say that the time it takes for your keyboard to make the connection, process the button, send the packet to the computer through usb, be interpreted by the os, then be interpreted by software, takes much longer than touch interface being interpreted directly via os, then software. Clearly you haven't interacted with very many touch surfaces as they are as fast if not faster than mechanical keyboards/mice.
EDIT::
Also, you're just being arrogant. When the first gui came out, everyone that knew how to use a computer (it was all command line then.. ) thought it was stupid. I mean, why would you ever need a gui? You can do anything you want with your computer from the command line. Forget about graphics, they are unnecessary and require more computing power for the machine and require more expensive hardware such as a 'high end' color monitor. But you don't see anyone lugging around some straight up black and green cmd's do you?
