It's been forever since I've been here
Maybe a year or something, not even sure!
Raivu actually messaged me which reminded me about LG
How is everyone? Where is everyone for that matter O:
Chad still around? What about Thomas? Syd? Matt? Flareboy? Taz? Kain?
After finishing up in the Gaya bot scene when I left here, I was starting up on youtube and it's going quite well too! Today I hit 20.8K (20,800) subscribers!
Channel is : Welcome to the cave! - YouTube
Anyways, nuff' about me! I just though I'd drop in to see how LG is doing and if anyone is still around
I'll be lurking for the night while I edit videos.

Sup. You don't know me, but I know you (sort of). As in I've seen you post a few times, but that's about it.
Chad is active very rarely now. And I mean seldom rarely. Thomas is on occasionally. Syd - don't know who that is. Matt? Sometimes. Flareboy? Yes. Taz? Yes. Kain, yes.
Welcome back. How's life/programming been going for you?Last edited by The Unintelligible; 30 Sep. 2012 at 11:56pm.

Great to hear. Life sounds nice and easy-going for you.
And it sucks to hear that @ programming. From a general standpoint, it's depressing to see programmers ultimately quit. You'd hope that people who had a specific niche in programming (i.e. Gaia botting) would expand on what they knew to enjoy programming in general. Either way, to each his own.
Good luck on your future/endeavors and stuff.

Ahh man I've expanded. I didn't just up and quit, but, kinda faded out.
I was working as a freelance programmer and web designer from like, age 15 - 17 then when youtube was able to pay all the bills and be a fulltime job, I didn't really need it anymore.
You never know though-- It could be something i pick up again.Shh, I'm watching My little pony.

Ah, alright.
Also how are you making that much profit via Youtube videos? I'm a little surprised.

The ads that are on the videos is how I get payed
It's one of the perks of being a youtube partner, except, we're through a network (TheGameStation) so it's alot higher then the average partnerShh, I'm watching My little pony.

Oh wow, great to have you back man!
When you left, I'm pretty sure I was still the extremely annoying and immature flareboy, haha.
I have a really quick question though: Do you have any of your old Gaia bot sources still? I was going to just download some of your old bots and try to decompile them to see how they work, but every single download link you've ever posted has died haha.
In other new, I've taken up C++, am learning Java now in a Comp Sci class, and have started development on a tiny Gaia bot (Not for a flash game or anything, but valuable to those who need it) and have been trying to learn how I could make a Flash game bot or a bot for the general website instead of something simple like what I'm doing.
Great to hear that you're engaged and everything though, congratulations!

Just a heads up Flare: C++ is going to really bottleneck you. In other words, you're going to learn at a far slower pace than you would working with a language like Python. Sorry if I'm being persistent with this, but I feel as though it's true.
Java is simple for the most part. But it's a 'foreign' language for creating bots and such (or at least in the locale of LG and other widely known botting communities). So naturally it'll be harder to pick up on as well. Just not for the same reasons as C/C++. Java could give you deployment issues and other related problems, but that's all theoretical.
After learning Java I'd seriously recommend going with Python. I know you want to learn something more powerful, but as a novice you won't need much power until you get a bit further up the ladder. Python is a simple and powerful programming language. The learning curve is also much less harsh. More appropriate for you.
Only trying to help.
Edit: Post more though. Mainly programming stuff. I want to see more education related posts on LG. Omlett said he'd post homework he needed help on in Tinychat. Not sure how that's going to turn out though.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 01 Oct. 2012 at 12:26am.

Oh jesus, You were a little on the bubbly side, but, I tolerated
As for my sources I can look around and see if they're on my external; I know for a fact I've got a few things that were never released, but they're outdated.
As for learning C++, keep at it. It's going to be slow, and brutal, but you'll thank yourself later.
<3
You still making music? Might have some paid work for you
LG is focused on what resources are available, and sadly this limits it to python and VB.Net (Some C#), though if he's learning java and has the ambition to learn outside school, there'd surely be a time when he'll do something for a bot.
I got away from the bot scene as fast as possible though and worked on some personal projects which surprisingly helped me learn alotShh, I'm watching My little pony.

@Bman: If you find the sources you should aggregate them all together and release them in one package. It would help a lot of users out on LG who are wanting to learn to program (including Flareboy).

Was with my fiancee all day, and then playing games all night, but when I get em together I'll put them all out for people.

Yeah, sorry about that. When I was around ten, I learned to talk online through browsing the Gaia forums. That's why I used so many gay/girly/annoying emoticons and such. My name might be flareboy323, but I am NOT gay at all, I was just talking like a 16 year old girl. Thankfully enough, that's mostly faded away. Thanks for the tips though, I remember that a lot of your stuff you released was in C#, so I have a question: Were you using libcURL? I've been checking it out for use with C++, and it seems pretty good.
Also, Unintelligible, I've been wanting to learn Python but I have to get farther in C++ for the robotics team at my school, and further in Java because of my computer science class. I'll try to start on Python whenever I get free time though, I've been meaning to.

I just want this ban lifted on my main account, I like this site, the only person I truly dislike is Omlett. I may have done some wrong but I don't feel I should have a perma, maybe a year and I can come back more mature and less stupid, perma is unnecessary in my opinion is my point.

@Flare: I'm pretty sure he and most (if not all of LG) didn't use the cURL library for their bot projects. Reason for this is because languages like C#/VB.NET/Python have built-in libraries for HTTP/networking/interacting with the web. It's fairly common to use curl in languages like PHP though.
It's a good library and tool, though.
