Drakonid is literally Hitler. And there is literally no reason that could ever exist under in circumstance in any universe where you should lock a topic about praising how awesome I am. whothefuckdoyouthinkyouare

How was saving Kain, Lady Gaga, GAMEchief, etc., from further embarrassment "terrorist sympathizing."
Btw Kain, I corrected you again via comments.

lol. 2012. People not understanding connotation and denotation.
Esoteric means that literally, yes. That's what is known as the denotation of the word. An instance of a denotation is saying "the tribes' cultural festivities were esoteric" because it's exclusive to them. An instance of connotation would be "her clothes are sure quaintly odd-fashioned. How esoteric!" Those were examples I thought of offhand.
Learn to English.
As for your "joke", jokes are meant to be funny and true to an extent. It was neither.

No one cares.
- 26 Sep. 2012 04:28am #17
But it isn't addressed to you. It's addressed to Kain. He gave a rationale to his point, and I gave one to mine.
Do you truly expect me to care about what you have to say? You aren't any different from Kain or GAMEchief. And you know what I mean by that (or at least I hope you do).

Humor in every respect should be either funny or true to an extent (even you said this at one point). Or at least have a point or serve a purpose. He wasn't sympathizing with me by locking the thread when I was the one correct. And frankly, I was having fun with you, GAME & Gaga.
And that wasn't what a connotation is. Seething has a fixed contextual meaning. The way he used it was both ambiguous and invalid. It is not synonymous to the literal term "anger" or "agitation."
- 26 Sep. 2012 04:36am #20
But esoteric has a fixed contextual meaning as well.
Also, seething (depending on where you find your definitions) has the meaning of violently excited/agitated, or to be in a state of turmoil, which fits nicely into his use.
And, you're misremembering (there should be a word for that.) me, I said if you're going to troll/be a jerk it should be funny.
Different humor is funny to different people. I find deadpan fucking hilarious, but a lot of people see it as boring or insulting.
Does that mean it's not funny? No.
Disco is neat.
- 26 Sep. 2012 04:42am #21
No, esoteric is different. You don't see words like "angry" or "mad" being used in connotative meaning. Because quite frankly, they are literal terms.
Seething was not synonymous with angry or mad. Even if it was, it was esoteric to use it when there are more customary and standardized alternatives. Reason being is for disambiguation purposes.
And regardless of whether I "misremembered" you or not, it still stands that funny things generally serve a point and/or they're true/funny to some degree. You attempted to make a point to the joke in that I was a "terrorist" (being a figure of antagonism) and that he's "sympathizing" by locking the thread because he's saving me from some sort of bad situation. It was neither of these things because your basis of regard was invalid.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 26 Sep. 2012 at 04:44am.

But why use esoteric when you could use a more well-fit word like 'silly' or 'unnecessary', or 'fucking stupid' or any other way of saying it, than using a word whose base definition is far from what you were trying to convey?
My particular 'funny thing' was funny to me, therefore it is funny. It's a use of extreme exaggeration over a simple act, which is a form of humor.
Disco is neat.
- 26 Sep. 2012 04:50am #23
I used that word because it was valid and also the word that came to mind at that time. Using a different term wouldn't change the fact that Gaga was still incorrect.
Your particular funny thing may have been funny to you, but it was not funny to me (and not true either). That was my opinion. The only difference is I'm explicitly voicing mine.
- 26 Sep. 2012 04:53am #24
It doesn't need to be true, because it's an exaggeration. That's what makes it funny.
Just because it's not6 funny to you doesn't mean it's not a joke/funny.
Anyway, you obviously understood what he was trying to convey, which means your brain defined the word in a way that he intended.
Gaga is technically correct, albeit using improper English.
Disco is neat.
- 26 Sep. 2012 04:59am #25
Even as an exaggeratation I think it isn't funny. Because it has the same basis of regard which again is invalid. Maybe that's how you saw the situation, but that wasn't how it was in actuality.
And like I said, in my personal opinion it isn't funny, making it in my perspective a bad joke.
And yes, I understood what he was trying to convey. It was irrelevant in that case because I've stated multiple times that I was mad, thus defeating the purpose of pointing it out in the first place (unless it's simply bad trolling on Gaga's part, which I've pointed out). I was simply addressing the improper use of the term. That's my entire stance here.
- 26 Sep. 2012 05:02am #26
You didn't say it was a bad joke, you said it wasn't a joke.
Your entire stance here was not the improper use of a term by Gaga, that was last thread. Your stance here was that esoteric was the correct term for you to use, despite their being as many better fits for that term, as there were for Gaga's, no matter how unnecessary his statements were.
Disco is neat.
- 26 Sep. 2012 05:07am #27As for your "joke", jokes are meant to be funny and true to an extent. It was neither.
Your joke served no point, no purpose, no niche, no role. It wasn't funny. Its basis of regard was simply invalid.
We're addressing the same issue. Esoteric and seething both play roles in the entire issue we're discussing. Breaking them down into separate matters is both wrong and irrelevant.
And no, like I said. The difference between Gaga and I is simply that mine was valid, and Gaga's usage was improper and wrong regardless.

- 26 Sep. 2012 05:11am #29
And again, like always. This being LG, arguments are simple to win (the only formidable arguments I've been in have been against Artificial).
GAMEchief being the idiot he is resorts to trying damage control on the issue and the fact that he was wrong on multiple occasions, Gaga was wrong on multiple occasions, and Kain was wrong on multiple occasions.
His post is a prime example of why I consider him stupid and inferior. This is why he isn't mentally capable of grasping OOP and why he uses PHP. This is why Aleena chose to target you.
- 26 Sep. 2012 05:21am #30
I think I'll concede now that this is just going in circles.
Kain, I'll commend your effort. But you've resorted to twisting components of the argument around and decomposing the main and utmost issue into an entirely different and irrelevant matter. Unsurprisingly, you've lost.
Drakonid, stay frosty.
GAMEchief, just six words (technically more): Aleena, PHP, cracking, "ethical hacker", idiot, OOP. Try to piece the puzzle together. If you need help, just ask.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 26 Sep. 2012 at 05:26am.
