They did a lot more than add a DVD player. It's more powerful than the PS3, graphics-wise. It has a heavily upgraded online system that automatically makes all games online interactive. Every game gets an automated discussion forum to discuss tips/tricks/cheats/how to beat areas/etc., even if the developer doesn't specifically code for it. And those that do code for it can create said forum on an even more specific level, such as each level in the game.
Also future Nintendo first party titles like the next Smash Bros. and NSMB2.

Also supports video chat, even during gameplay.

No telling what the Internet browser supports. They always show it playing video, but I don't know if that necessarily implies flash support. No telling. Maybe they'll mention it at E3.

The tablet controller is also functional as a system of its own, without requiring the TV. You can essentially play all the games for the Wii U including both downloadable games and on-disc, graphics-intensive, modern games portably (at least within wireless range of the console) with no lag, including non-games like the Internet browser and other online features.

Anywho, get a 3DS then if you aren't a fan of the Wii U.
