I'm actually being serious moteSerious:
I, would like to become an Admin.
I check the forums I'm assigned to daily
I lock/move/infract whenever and wherever need be
I'm on a constant lookout for new ideas to bring LG back up to its glorified former self
between having nothing else to do but produce music and play a gig here and there with constant internet access I have the time to devote myself to the job
LG as lame as it sounds, means a lot to me. I've been a dedicated member who's contributed everything from gameplay tutorials to full length scamming and social engineering tutorials.
We've all done a pretty fine fucking job shaping this place into the cozy by-the-fire lounge we all come to after school and work to share anything and everything under the sun.
B'yeah.

For all the stuff that happens around here, LG itself is always remarkably unchanged. Thanks to the folks who still remembered I was once here and welcomed me back despite me being retarded.

You should IM Artificial. You will probably have best luck with that. I'm not him or a professional, but I'd say your odds are favorable in getting it if you do that.

Artificial cares as much about who is an Admin as he does about his life. I was an S-Mod for 2 years before I got promoted to Admin, and Thomas did that for me. I did everything except the tutorials and stuff that Rai has done, plus a lot of advertising behind the scenes that cost me a lot of money to do.
The fact is, I would support a promotion to Smod for you, hell I even support a promotion to something higher than that, but as for what Alex and Thomas had said before, I will probably be the last admin added to the team unless one of us quits or retires.Voted Hottest Male Member

I definitely appreciate it, thanks.
And yeah, I can see you being the last one they'll hire until something changes. If it's any consolation though, worse come trse even if I CAN'T get S-Mod, I'd still be tickled to be a mod.
Is there any way I can get a hold of either of them outside LG to discuss this? I never see them on.☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION

On Yahoo that is.

What is his Yahoo?
I have him on MSN, which he is on frequently, but only in a shittily distant time zone.

Snow kun is talking about my MSN. As for making you admin, to be honest I'm a little loath to make any significant changes to the site right now (though we need it). As far as I'm aware, forum technology is dead. Any massive overhaul to the site I feel would be wasted, as sometime down the track I'd love to move towards a new custom system that is more interactive and built specifically for what we're trying to achieve.
Unfortunately we don't have many great PHP developers on the site, and I don't have enough time to do it all on my own.
- 24 May. 2012 05:35pm #13
Forum technology certainly isn't dead. Can you name a more efficient form of socializing? Besides social networking, and we certainly don't have site-specific social networks.
While a massive overhaul may be a waste, you do have volunteers, so it should be no sweat off your back. Let them try. What's the worst case scenario? No improvement? Because that's what's going to happen if they don't try.
Also, I'm a PHP developer. Unce, unce, unce, unce.

Oh yeah it was MSN. I thought it was your Yahoo which is right next on the list.

Also you aren't on MSN.

From a usability point of view vBulletin can definitely be improved. There's far too much going on, so many features that just aren't needed, and the features that are included I don't feel are executed properly. Traditional forum technology to me feels antiquated and clunky. I just don't feel like there's a natural progression or flow of conversation. Plus, there's a million forums out there - if we instead laid out exactly what we wanted to achieve, and built a system that nailed those specifications, we'd go a long way towards having a more sustainable website.
I like the idea of everything being integrated. High quality content, videos, reviews, trading, currency system, messaging, etc. communicating and working with each other. As it stands with vBulletin, you get the base forum code, and try to adapt generic standalone 3rd party modifications to suit a specific purpose. I think most people can agree that the current currency/trading system is terrible. And, I'm not sure how many of you have looked at it, but the coding infrastructure behind vBulletin is amongst the worst I've ever seen from such a large commercial PHP application. Extending vBulletin is really not an option.
The main issue with using inexperienced developers who don't have any experience building web applications is broken and/or exploitable functionality. However, if we can get a team together, I'd love to give it a go.

I see no one more suited for such a role as this.
Best of luck in getting atleast s-mod c:
- 24 May. 2012 06:15pm #19
Have you ever tried making a forum system? That shit is way, way, way, way harder than it sounds. Namely because of the tie it takes. You'll get bored of developing after a short while.
Though I do understand the concern with third party mods. They are rather shitty, especially for vB; but the useability of vB for the client is far better than any other current forum system.
- 24 May. 2012 06:33pm #20
There's nothing hard about making a forum :p http://mixxi.com/forum Admittedly, it's only partially completed and very basic, but that only took me a couple of hours to put together.
Once you strip out all of the unnecessary features it's pretty straightforward. I'm not saying it would be an easy/quick project, but it wouldn't be hard at all.

To expand on this point, I'd also like to add that Doc has been working on the same thing off and on whenever he gets the chance.

If you know what you're doing, time investment is basically the only conflicting factor.

Alright Arti, just keep me updated. I'd be more than happy to take the position of at least S-Mod when that spot is available, if you see fit.
