So ive been reading a lot on the debate on white people with dreadlocks lately mainly due to the fact that im considering getting dreadlocks again and yes it will be purely an aesthetic thing i wont be doing it in the attempts to make a political or religious statement and that should be fine considering the world we live in is striving to be more unified but there are people out there who see it as i will be racist and opressive by stealing a fascit of a culture and religion but the more i read the more i see the type of people who express that veiw point its mainly white christrans with bigotted or extream veiw points and by no means am i trying to bash any religion here thats not the point of this but its an honest observation in my life i have been pushed to believe in god and take a christan veiw point but i honestly can not hold thoughs beliefs because they do not ring true with me i have more in common with a belief system that preaches peice and the unification of all people which is the rastafarians which i would supposedly be oppressing "hair left alone to its own devices will knot and come together, maybe if people are left to their own devices they will come together" by the logic i am stealing a culture when i wear dreads is it appropriate then to say that by eating a taco i am stealing from mexican culture or by using a gaming console i am stealing from asian culture? By this logic it is also wrong to be a person of color as a buddhist or a catholic as they are stealing from white culture. Im not trying to mock or imitate african americans in any way im not making a religous or political statement im purely interested in a hairstyle that will work for me in my lifestyle. And i certantly do believe that reverse racism does exsist i experienced it in highschool when i would be called "white boy" as a derogatory term and to persicute me for having dreadlocks is the same. If you believe people have had shampoo conditioner and combs for all times your wrong every ethnicity at one point in time had dreadlocks for the simple fact there was no form of hair care. And by that im not saying all dreads are neglect dreads and dirty modern dreadlocks are as clean as any other hair style and require much care and attention people dont realize the comitment and dedication it takes to create dreadlocks its a journey as any one who has had dreadlocks will tell you its a journey of personal descovery in the drive and constant work it takes to make dreads happen. And to anyone who believes otherwise on any of the information i have presented its all easy to find and all very acurate im just sick of peoples ignorance on the topic and the extrwam views they express no matter how unjustified or unfounded they are iif you read this let me know what you think please dont correct my spelling or grammer thats not the point of this
