Here are weird things about TCNs ( third country nationals, specifically the pakistani or iraqi or northern afghans):
-they are all legitimately gay. They have their own showers that is meant only for them to use on manlove thursday (not kidding)
-if they think you are attractive you will get extra food at chow time
-they douche their assholes in the open
-they will fuck any loose animal they can find
-they are deathly scared of americans when we are nice to them
-they seem to not understandthe space age invention of electrified fences.

The one thing that isnt as weird is that most of them are former taliban fighters that are on our side now( they are still heavily monitored) and want to be americans. Oh and they love american muscle cars.

We built the only road in their country and gas powered personal generators are their power grid of course they don't understand electric fences. Most of them don't even get that they live in a country. The Taliban was just a group that sort of had control over part of the country and let tribal leaders pretty much run the show. I mean it like what 60% opium farmers, 35% goat owners, 5% radical educated islamic fundamentalists/ people that are just listening to them because they offer them security and food.
To them its still 1980 something outside of their country and they're still doing things pretty much the way they have been since Britain told them they were a country now in the years following WWII.
America's worst country fried hillbillies operate under high technological standards than 98% of Afghanistan.

Though the man love is pretty funny for a group of people that want to stone women for showing their ankles. Then again I guess it makes sense.

Most of the people in Afghanistan just want security. The Taliban showed up with guns and money via dealings with less than legit people and such. They offered them security so the people were on board. Now they're gone an the US is there so they want to be on your side to make sure they're safe again. The people that shoot at you are either confused and think you're there to invade their country or are part of the small group that is radicalized. That distinction is blurred since the latter often recruits the former and tried to make them think the US is there to take their goats and rape their women.

hm, then progress has been made. I'm friends with a professor who was really high up in NATO and he and I discussed Afghanistan once because he went over a few years back and got flown around so he could nod at things and talk to some other officials.
I'd imagine you can't say but how much Taliban do they think is left? Also how joke is the government/Afghan security forces? I have a bet with a friend that even if we really do pull out the government will ask us to come back with in the next ten years.

The forces of the taliban are almost not a threat but becuase their number is so low they are using dirty tricks. One of the bases out here gave a local national a good job with american minimum wage who turned out to be a taliban agent. He blew himself up with over 50lbs of C4 strapped to his chest in a small store that was set up. He killed 5 local nationals who were glad trk for us and killed 2 NCIS (the real NCIS) agents. But they are much smallernin number now.

And the afghan army is no joke. These guys are brutal to their own people. Like beating anyone that says something supposrtive of the taliban. But they are scared of us and the MARSOC (Marine special forces) guys out here.

Its gonna be like iraq. We will be back for a legit war and probably colonize the middle east. I give it 12 years before that becomes the policy.

Smaller force just means they'll focus on terrorism and guerrilla war. They don't have to beat you they just have to make it not worth your trouble to stay. Which is what most of the people in the US fail to get.

I know they're brutal but their brutality and incorrect behavior makes them a joke as a security force if the people they protect don't feel confidence in them for any reason, including the fact they're kind of corrupt and by your own admission brutal.

No one has ever colonized Afghanistan successful and I feel that trying to colonize the middle east would be a terrible move. We don't have the resources it'd be imperial overstretch and kill the country. I definitely believe we'll be asked back via NATO to be a police force with in 10 years and are then likely to never leave much like what happened in Kosovo. Its not that I don't think the US military could conquer the land, I don't think we could build a functioning US regime in the Middle East that didn't involve an endless terror campaign against the US that result is withdrawal that leave us weak and broken before the world.

I agree almost on the whole. The weird thing about the locals is that they do have confidence in the afghan army even though they are iron fisting the people. Its kind of weird its like MBP.

As for us coming back i believe its only a matter of time abd ny flippabt use of the term colonize was to strictly say that we will come back in and take everything we have the possibility of losing back and violently so.
