My sister was just charged with the death of her newborn baby that happened 10 years ago. I was just 11. Never knew, only remember a baby being found in the trash a few houses away.
Apparently she confessed to first degree murder. It's all over the news here.
Fuck. My. Life.
My mind is racing with OMG, WTF, NOWAI's right now.

I am more or less worried this is going to blow up into some nationwide news spree and Nazi Grace badmouthing my entire family.

Yeea. The what ifs are just pouring into my head though. Apparently my ... Niece... ... her body was given to an organization the provides clothing for infant burials.. They gave her a name and a proper funeral. I remember that funeral back in '02 thinking "wow, i wonder who's family she really belonged to and if they know she is related to them. I hope they feel somewhat at ease that she was given a proper burial and not just labeled a case number"
...I just don't know what to think. Wow.

No, but it deals with my family. The fact that my sister was pregnant and none of us noticed. It explains EVERYTHING that happened in those years she was living with us. And that I could have had a 10 year old niece, but the baby was killed. Then I wonder why the fuck she did it, or if it really was her. Maybe it was a mistake. I wonder about all the fucking options she had, and why she took this one. I watch my mom freak out into near heart attack. I watched my father cry. I am speechless.
Not to mention that capitol punishment is legal here, and people HATE child killers.Last edited by La Vie Cruelle; 27 Jan. 2012 at 11:49am.

List of punishments for murder in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to that, punishment for murder one is death penalty or life, my guess is that they won't be going for death penalty since they took her confession, but don't take my word on it, I only took took three years of Argentinian law, and all my American law knowledge comes from law and order...

Now how did she hide a pregnancy so well? Surely she can say she was too young for the kid, and the stress from having the baby made her do bad decisions?

That's what I said about the pregnancy, but I honestly can't seem to remember my childhood at all. I don't ever remember her showing signs of being pregnant, but then again I think to myself maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.
I barely have a memory of anything from back then. I blocked ages 5 - 13 out for some reason.

Oh shit did you just say you blocked out ages 5-13? If so, that means an extremely traumatic event or something you don't want to remember happened between those timeframes o.o You're going to want to ask your parents about that.
Also, that sucks and good luck! D:

I see.
@Kain: I got it from books and TV, if you can't remember certain chunks of your past it's normally because something so traumatic happened your brain doesn't want to remember it so it blocks it out. It happens with people who were raped as children a lot, and with other violent or trauma-inducing things.

I hope to god you're being sarcastic.
@Flare: Or you know she could just not remember. Repressed memories are a hypothetical concept and some believe it's just fad started in the 19th century.
Let's not forget what happened to Nadean Cool. D:
@Jenny: That's pretty fucked up. Have you had any chance to talk to your sister about this? Maybe what her motivations were? I assume she's probably being held somewhere so I suppose it might not be that easy. Normally people will usually have a pretty good reason. Maybe she was worried about what your family would think hence why most didn't know? When she finally did give birth maybe she was so freaked she felt like she had no other option. People really crack under stress.
As far as people talking about it at work. If anyone confronts you about it either be honest as to what you personally know or tell them to fuck off. Humans are naturally gossipy creatures. I'm sorry you have this happening to you and your family. I'm not the greatest at things like this but you can shoot me a pm anytime or something. I'm not really sure in what way I can help. If there is a way let me know.
All hail kitty pig.

People should wake up, even thought it's her sister, she has to know that no one is the person we think they are, i'm not saying she is a bad person, but that is not an accident.
Though i hope that she gets out of this bad situation , i agree that people crack down easily.

Oh look the DNA was inconclusive, and it didn't match my mother's. All they have to go by is a "confession" that the interrogators forced out of her. Stupid, detectives are stupid. You would think that they would have gone through full DNA testing BEFORE sending someone to prison. :/
