Yes and no. It really depends on if they would be genuinely better with out you vs if you think they'd be better with out you.
Because sometimes you may think someone would be better off with out you, but be totally wrong. :/

Some cases like that usually leaves someone lonely and abandoned. Making the situation worse

If he/she told you that he/she isn't happy anymore then let him/her go. But if you just felt that he/she would be happier without you why not ask? You would know what you must do when the answer is given.
