Depends on what kind of server you're trying to run, I know mc works best on linux based OS's. The steam servers seem to run better on a windows based os, but decently on linux as well. Only problem is that they have different formats if you're trying to add mods to the server.

But mine is an old PC , should I just buy a new motherboard and all ? i'm still confused on how to do this
My pc might heat up too much or something, it's a laptop . But my brain starts to smell like bacon when i think of making a server. i looked up the prices of Gigabyte's motherboards and it wasn't expensive.
Got a good way to start off ?
