It was and it wasn't. The building collapsed mostly into it's self. One layer at a time. The only way that could have happened is that if Layer 100 (100th floor) fell on top of layer 99 exerting enough force to collapse the rest straight down. However, the building was created to withstand earthquakes and hurricanes so that theory isn't exactly going trk.

From what I've gathered. There might have been explosives placed in specific spots of the building on the some of the main support beams within to do the whole trick. The airplane, was just to help out and etc.

My Guess: Inside and outside job.

It was not an inside job. Based on materials and construction the building is built to collapse that way pending demolition. Earthquake protective measures are meant to deal with shifting, not collapse from above. You ram a projectile through the support of a floor and then apply extreme heat to continue weaking you get the floor to collapse downward, the force of the entire top half of a building falling onto the next level is more than enough to buckle the support of several floors/roofs it lands on, when the support of said floors/roofs buckles mass is added to the falling mass, process continues and force builds as mass enters free fall and approaches terminal velocity.
